I liked the premise and appreciated that it wasn’t too sciencey/mathy. I wish there was more to the narrator discovering that he loved being a human and the little things that make us human. It felt a little fast whereas the ending dragged a bit.
Overall this might have been my favorite Matt Haig so far!

The ending really made the book come together. A good read.

I hoped to enjoy this more as I love Matt Haigs writing. Still enjoyable and would recommend but not the best I have read from him.

Once the premise of Matt Haig's novel is discovered it doesn't take much imagination to guess the ending. Especially as he sign-posts it about a third of the way in. The concept of an alien's take on the human race has been seen before on TV shows such as Star Trek, Mork and Mindy and Third Rock from the Sun. So it's a pity that Haig does not take the opportunity for greater social satire. A good example is the visit to a football match, in which the protagonist comments on the taste of cola and crisps.
