A great follow up to Senlin Ascends!
This book feels like it stops trying to convey the wonder of the tower and over emphasising on the strangeness of the situations and gets on with telling the story - and doing a good job of it. I also felt the characters personalities start to develop... or twist.
All in all a much more enjoyable book than the first, what wasn't a particularly bad book, just a slow introduction to the series.

OBSESSED with the sphinx and the gender bending that goes on in this book as well as a fictional charecter going through menopause! Also, blimp pirates?! Amazing.

Another great book by Josiah Bancroft!
it wasn't as amazing for me as Senlin Ascends was, but that was mostly due to extremely high expectations and also the fact that I KNEW this one would take me places I never expected.
I really liked how all the characters grew and changed throughout the book, and the new ways their group works together.
The prose, flow, pace and plot of the book was just as good as book one, and the little tiny mention at the end has me on my toes speculating about what'll happen in the next installment!
I really enjoyed this new adventure, and can't wait to read book three!
