More Sandman, more Dreamy goodness. You never know what kind of adventure you're going to get, through history and fantasy, but it's always interesting.

When I was only about 20 pages into this massive book, I looked up and said, "God, Neil Gaiman really is a master, isn't he?" The second volume of The Absolute Sandman is another amazing example of why I love Neil Gaiman's work so much. I was completely pulled into the gorgeous illustrations and the compelling stories. In particular, Season of Mists is absolutely magical. I loved every second of that particular story arc. As with the first volume, I did take off a star for a section that I found difficult to get into, and that was the Fables and Reflections section. I like the larger story arcs so much better, and I just found all of these segments a bit difficult to get into. They were still intriguing and good stand-alones, but I just prefer the larger stories. Nevertheless, I am delighted that this beautiful book is in my library.

Equally as good as the first volume, and the stunning recoloring is still the best part. The issues have been slightly rearranged, however. The original trades put all the storyline issues together as #4 and #5, with standalones in #6, but three standalones have been included at the end of "Season of Mists" and three at the end of "A Game of You," in what I think was the original publication order. Due to the nature of the shorts, it doesn't make much difference either way; it just might come as a surprise for people upgrading their trades.
