I read this series a long time ago and it pops up in my mind from time to time and I thought why not give it a re-read. Loved it just as much this time as I did then.

Samantha’s world is about to get tipped upside down. She finds out she comes from a royal family. The Queen of Lilaria is finding some of the families and reinstating their titles.
If that wasn’t enough she meets Prince Yummy, I mean Prince Alex haha and well they hit it off. Things start to heat up between them.

Samantha has a lot of soul searching to do, does she stay and finish college or does she become her families figurehead and take her place in the Lilarian government.

The story is sweet and sexy and yeah a little cheesy but that’s what I loved about it. I loved that it’s a modern take on the Princess Diaries.

I really enjoyed this book and this series and I loved the narration.

Very sweet, enjoyable fairy tale with a happy ending. Just what I needed.

It's alright. It is the adult version of The Princess Diaries. At first, the book was amazing. The sexual tension was good, the romance was great. But as I said, it being the adult version of TPD, I already knew where it was going. Then 3/4ths down the road, it started getting realllly rushed. Really, really rushed.

It is worth the read, it's well written for the majority of it. But not worth the reread.

Good read!

Good read!

Loved the hot, steamy, fairy tale romance! Really good book with a sassy character like Samantha, you'll enjoy every word!

Sometimes you read a book and you’re like “Damn, this is a me book.” Then you finish it and you’re like “oh, so not a me book at all.” That is how Suddenly Royal was for me. It had everything I wanted. A prince, a sarcastic girl who was not interested in being a princess. I mean, in all seriousness, The Prince and Me is my movie (mostly cause of the Wisconsin part of it.) Yet this book consistently was lacking something that made me want to devour the book.

Samantha is living her small town college life until one day she finds out she is the distance relative to the crown. The crown of a very small country, which depends on family, and since she is family she should just pick up her life and come to the palace. While Samantha was living comfortably, her mother had died recently and her father was not in the best of health and Lilaria has some of the best health care in the world that could assist him in getting better. Small world right?

So, Samantha decides to take them up on their offer, what is the worst that could happen?

Nothing really. Samantha fits right in Lilaria. Between Lilaria and the United States she is called “America’s Princess” and loved by all. Including Prince Alex, who is Samantha’s help getting accustomed to Lilaria. He is a notorious playboy, or so Samantha believes and she refuses to be a one night stand, so matter how hard Alex tries. Of course Alex is not the playboy that Samantha is so sure about. And slowly the begin to know each other better and know how good they could be together.

However, one of the things that didn’t work for me no matter how much I tried were the random pop culture references that were thrown in. They just didn’t work. It jarred me out of the story I was trying so hard to stay in. I felt that Chase was saying hi to some of her friends and they weren’t subtle, but painful to me. It brought this story from being a three star to me, to a two star.

I have no idea why it took me so darn long to read Nichole Chase's Suddenly series, but I'm thankful I finally saw the error of my ways. This book was pretty much what would happen if the movies The Prince & Me and Princess Diaries got together and made an incredibly awesome book baby. It was sweet, swoony and a lot sexier than I expected it to be.

I loved the characters in this book. Sam was a smart, driven woman. Alex was sexy, sweet and all-around delicious. Sam's story might sound like a fairytale to some women, but it definitely wasn't to her. She had her life plan figured out and she was just working towards it. She didn't expect to find out she was royalty. Suddenly her future looks a lot different and she has some major decisions to make.

While the princess storyline was fun, it was the romance that made this book for me. It was so swoony and romantic. I enjoyed the pace at which things developed between Sam and Alex. I loved their banter and how playful they could be with each other. There was oodles of sexual tension and you just knew it was all going to break loose in a matter of time. When it did, it was steamy. A lot hotter than I would have expected with it's sweet cover, to be perfectly honest. There was also a great focus on family and, if I'm honest, a few tear-jerker moments that definitely made me emotional.

I listened to this book in audiobook format and the time spent listening was definitely a highlight of my day. My miserable daily commute was far more enjoyable while listening to Caitlin Davies tell this story. Caitlin has narrated other audiobooks I've listened to in the past and I always enjoy the her performance. She gave a great voice to Sam and Alex and her entire performance made Suddenly Royal even that much more enjoyable.

In the time between when I finished this book and now that I'm writing my review, I devoured Recklessly Royal. I enjoyed it, too, but Sam and Alex will always hold a special place in my heart because they came first and I loved how romantic their story was. I've not yet gotten around to reading Reluctantly Royal, but it's in the queue to be read soon. The Suddenly series is a great new adult series that's not like any of the others I've read.

4.5 adorable!! The perfect vacation read.

enjoyable read. Samantha was a great character. i do wish maybe some of the middle was shortened and the events of the end lengthened to be more involved with that part of the story. this one was kinda long for my genre of "light reads"

Disclaimer: My reviews are made partially for myself to remember what I thought of a book and partially for my friends, and not meant to be a thought out critique for the public to judge the book by.

This book is cute at best.

Samantha becomes a Duchess somehow someway, I forgot the details, Alex is the Prince, who totally wants her. It's like okay, whatever. Anyway, Alex swears off dating girls in the public eye, HONESTLY, I think that's the part that gripes my nerves. In the summary, the author makes it seem like this is a legit issue, IT'S NOT. He mentions it casually on the plane to someplace and then drops it. Then finds out that Alex had a girlfriend sell their sexual pictures to the media. Is that an issue? NOPE. Not at all, that gets mentioned like twice. The WHOLE issue is Samantha is afraid of being hurt or someone leaving her. It's literally the dumbest plot ever, I mean it makes sense, her family dies, all she has is her step father who has cancer. It's just cliche. I liked the book, don't get me wrong but it was cute. Just cute, there was no dramatic climax
Spoileroh if you want to count her stepfather dying
. It was just Alex chasing Samantha and both being in love with each other but Samantha is too afraid to admit it. It was just cute and pretty boring.

I didn't hate it but I wasn't wowed by it either. In my short paragraph, I told you the WHOLE plot to the book, so, if you don't want to, don't waste three hours reading this book either. I liked it, I swear, you should read it, it was really cute but it was very anticlimactic.

I loved this book. Funny and sweet. I fell in love with Alex and Samantha's journey to love. A must read.
