The good: the main character's musings and revelations on a life well lived, and what forms that can take. Particularly the conversations and inner monologues in Morocco.

The Meh: I don't really care for Mr. Less as a character. He's bland.

And yet... it was a good read. I just don't think it is as prizewinning as the voting members and boards seem to think it is.

I have mixed feelings for this book—I was expecting more. Maybe I’m just an idiot, but I felt as if I never truly knew who was leading in the book. It jumped around from different viewpoints but it wasn’t clear throughout most of the book whose POV I was reading from. This caused some confusion. I was hoping for a quick read, and had expected to be blown away considering the reviews and Pulitzer Prize. I’m low-key disappointed.

One of those that clearly made its way into my hands just when I needed it to. Ah! Are all pulitzer prize winning books this good? If so, I might have to start reading them. Do I love a book that listens to my prayers. Breath drawn in at the end and YET. Goodie good good.

This is for when you feel miserable and trust nothing and need someone to make you a nice warm curry and people keep chucking sandwiches at you and asking you why you don’t go out more. Fuck off, I’m reading Less.

I finished this because of a long plane ride and for no other reason. Such false highs and real lows in this uneven tripe. I like the framework of starting a new chapter with Arthur’s travels, but we’re never present for the point of any of the trips. Why stop short of that delivery?! Why not explain why all the students were sick? Why didn’t we get to see the wedding that he traveled to? Why would we care to find out who the narrator is? And why ... WHY?!??!! ... would you use an omniscient first-person narrator who we isn’t “revealed” until the final scene?! How would that person be omniscient when he wasn’t present for the majority of the scenes?!??!! Side note: this book won a Pulitzer. How?!

Adventurous and fun! Major wanderlust. Wish the main character had more confidence in himself. A bit too self deprecating for me.

had to return to library — may return to it, but for now I am busy with a few other books — fun character & story so far!
