Wow, such insight through pictures. A history lesson and really wonderful photography. It was a balm to my heart

I recently watched "The Way I See It", a documentary about President Obama's White House photographer, and that documentary got me interested in this book. What a treasure! The photographs and Souza's words about each one were wonderful, and many made me tear up or smile. Highly recommended.

I checked this book out from the library and now I am dying to purchase the book to have a copy at home. I discovered this book when I saw the junior novelization of it and placed a hold on the original. Cue 3 months later when my hold finally came in (there was a long list!) and I couldn't wait to rush home to read it.

I had tears in my eyes when reading this book and looking at all the wonderful photos Pete Souza took. The part where I really had to hold back from crying was seeing the photos of Obama's reaction to the Sandy Hook shooting. I smiled a lot whenever I saw photos of him interacting with kids.

I miss the class and sophistication of the Obama presidency. I want him back.

A nice photo history of our 44th President of the United States.

Simply breathtaking. So many powerful photographs that make you feel all the feels. As intimate as browsing through a family photo album.

Just beautiful. I cried multiple times while reading Souza's captions. I must purchase a copy of this ❤️

Beautiful, inspiring photos of a lovely family and historic events. A lot of behind the scenes shots. My favorite, outside of the president with children and Bo getting on Airforce One, was probably in Rio at the giant Christ the Redeemer statue.

As both a photographer and an admirer of the Obama family, I assumed I would enjoy this book. I followed Pete Souza's photos on Flickr (before the next administration scrubbed his content from the official White House account) and always appreciated them. What I did not expect was how blown away I would be by this book -- emotionally. For someone who doesn't get misty-eyed very often, I went through a suspicious amount of tissue while viewing this book.

The photos are amazingly done. The selection process must have been grueling -- getting only 300+ images out of 2 million files? The intimate look at the eight years of Barack Obama's administration is a powerful reminder of what we once had.
