I loved reading about & looking at pictures of President Obama’s journey as president for 2 terms 💕 From the happy moments to the very tragic, there were amazing pictures that were taken to take us back to those days. Great work by Pete Souza 📸😊

I should have read this one in reverse...
That said this is such a wonderful work of photojournalism. I was expecting excellent photos, as I am familiar with Souza's work, but what I wasn't expecting was just how fascinating it was to read through this book. Reading it, really immersing myself in it, lended such a unique view into this president and this moment in time. It was particularly interesting seeing so many familiar faces and knowing where some of those stories would go now years later. I'm into politics so getting to see so many behind the scenes moments was engrossing. If you ever wondered what it would have been like to be the fly on a wall for those eight years wonder no more - Souza was the invisible man in the room capturing every moment.

The title of this book says it all. A lot of the photos had a deeper story behind them and I loved and appreciated those stories. This is just an all around beautiful book.

Pete Souza---thanks for the memories.

yeah cool whatever a book of photos made me cry I'm fine don't mind me

Pete Souza's command of photography is exemplary. He knows how to frame a shot both for detail work and expansiveness; close ups, angles, use of space, light, he does it all. He adds meaning to his work framing the president so often with images of presidential and black history that speak volumes. He can photography with light, casual humor just as well as he can communicate reverneace and heavy weight of all the important moments and responsibilities of a president. He shoes president Obama as a real person, as family man and a public servant. His photographs are intimate and touching and keep on surprising me with he obvious skill with the craft.

This is a gorgeous book of photos captured by Pete Souza, the White House photographer during the Obama administration. It’s a hefty book, as it chronicles both terms. I loved reading Souza’s captions and learning the stories behind the most iconic images of Obama’s presidency.

This is just so wholesome!

Really, I don't agree with Obama on many counts but especially after finishing [b:Barracoon: The Story of the Last "Black Cargo"|2590136|Barracoon The Story of the Last "Black Cargo"|Zora Neale Hurston|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1524663392l/2590136._SY75_.jpg|2108582], reading this was fairly soothing.

You can't deny that Obama truly loved people, wanted to work hard and make things better. The pictures provided a really special peak into the world of the White House. I found myself spending time pouring over the pictures, wondering where are all the aides and such now, curious what each piece of paper said on it, taking in all of the little details of the pictures.

Pete Souza has done a phenomenal job here, really, this book is great both for photography lovers and for Obama fans. There isn't much to say other than to recommend this book for an intimate glance into the White House during Obama's time.

What I'm Taking With Me
- Yeah, I'm Jewish but pls, someone buy me a physical copy of this for Christmas.
- That picture when they were hunting Bin Laden is so powerful.
- I think one of my favorite pictures here was the one with the snowstorm. Or when he was working out with David Cameron.

The former President's warmth, humor, and integrity come through on every page.

I was iffy about reading this for fear that it would send me into a downward spiral of depression from which there might be no return. I mean I didn't exactly want to be reminded for perhaps the fifteenth time this week just how much I miss this man. Squirting lemon juice on the paper cut ya know?

I was pleasantly surprised though because in the end what this lovely book (that my husband is demanding we buy) did was remind me for a few precious moments what the office of the presidency can mean and will mean again once this long, long, long, long, dear god will it never end, national nightmare is over.

So go ahead and remind yourself that once upon a time we had the coolest fucking guy as president. Pete Souza as the official presidential photographer has put together an amazing look at this truly remarkable man, his family and the people he worked with. His simple, personal recollections about horrendous moments like Sandyhook (the self described worst day of Obama's presidency) and far sweeter moments like catching Malia in a hug on her return from school were just the thing I needed to see right now.

I found myself filled with a sense of hope again, just a for a few moments, that we can be the change we want to see in the world. We really do live in a country where anything is possible. That was a good feeling to have right now. I really, really needed it.
