This was such a cute Christmas read. Leo was such a sweet, charming character. His love for his sister and wanting to do right by her was heartwarming. I loved how he was so honest and true to himself. The sibling relationship between Gabby and Leo was so sweet and so relatable. Gabby was such a fun, vivacious character. Marie was so unsure of herself and who she wanted to be within the confines of her role as princess. Her journey to finding herself was a wonderful addition to the Christmas love story in this book. I loved the dialogue between Leo and Marie. Their friendship and feelings were written so wonderfully. The ending was sweet, and I loved the extra details the epilogue provided.

This is basically just a Hallmark Christmas movie but make it open door, and that is not a criticism. It's delightfully unbelievable but also has a few poignant, emotional moments. It basically felt like a straight shot of Christmas cheer right into my veins.

Pros: It's a cheesy Christmas romance that is also surprisingly spicy, and the occasional fourth wall breaks to joke that the princess is from a country straight out of a Hallmark movie made it all the more fun
Cons: Characters lacked depth on occasion, and the resolution felt just a biiiit too easy to me
CW: Sexual content, death of parent(s), grief, car accident (past), cancer
Recommended for: Romance readers who enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies

This book is EXACTLY what I wanted it to be. After struggling to find Christmas Romance recommendations that I hadn't already read or were actually hallmark/PG...A Princess for Christmas really delivered.

Leo and Marie are great, they feel like a couple that would genuinely love each other and their character development over the book is brilliant. Gabby, Leo's little sister, with her ability to just enjoy the world also brings so much to this book. Through these characters we experience a cosy, hot chocolate filled Christmas season that belongs in a hallmark movie or The Princess Diaries.

Then the romance kicks in...And it does not serve PG. It serves steamy Christmas in log cabins, dancing in the woods and sneaking around a royal Palace.

Brilliant, all my cosy Christmas romance vibes were met and I'll be reading the next one next year!

I thought this book was super cute. A lot of sweet moments with some spice thrown in. I loved the main characters and how caring the hero was even though he tried to be mean in the beginning. Like the hero references in the story it felt like a Hallmark Christmas movie. Also really enjoyed how determined the heroine was to be her own person and go beyond people’s simple expectations of her. Very sweet and fun holiday story.

This book was just fine. It was cute and had some sexy moments, but the story itself was pretty simple. The author even says it’s supposed to feel like a hallmark Christmas movie, but this book is almost too simple for me.

I’m so glad I downloaded this when I realised Duke, Actually was a sequel instead of just ignoring the first book.

A Princess For Christmas was an absolute delight to read! Marie was such a sweet, complicated, multi-layered character and I fell head over heels for her just as Leo did. And Leo, my gosh. Sometimes he made me roll my eyes, but he was sweet and kind and stubborn and so full of love despite attempting to hold everyone at arms length. His relationship with Gabby was honestly so wholesome and one of my favourite aspects of the book.

There were layers to this story that I honestly hadn’t anticipated. Stories of different kinds of grief and the strain of familial relationships that really added a depth to this otherwise fluffy and occasionally steamy romance.

This book is by no stretch amazing, but it made me feel warm and fuzzy, just like a silly little Christmas romance should, and isn’t that just the best feeling?
