Sweet Christmas story
lighthearted
I haven’t read holiday-themed books since I was in elementary school, so I thought I’d get some in this year. My first one was this book, and I did not end up liking it as much as I thought I would. The intended storyline sounded right up my alley, and I thought the beginning was great! However, once I reached the halfway point, it just went downhill from there. When it comes to romance novels, I’m more of one for a slow-burn type of romance that starts cute and gets more intense as the story goes on. However, the love interest happened so quickly, and there was a multitude of sex scenes that turned out eye-roll-worthy. Yes, I enjoy some steamy moments, but not to the point where they seemed forced and are just awkward and unnecessary. Overall, I thought the book was good enough to read its entirety; it just does not rank as one of my favorites.

I am so glad that Instagram made me buy this one! I was able to read it right before Christmas and so helped to put me in the right mood. I couldn’t stop grinning through the whole book, especially when the characters compared their story to a Hallmark Christmas Movie.
Leo has a lot on his plate between being the guardian to his little sister Gabby, being the super of his apartment, and driving a cab. When Princess Marie of Eldovia hails his cab to try to make a party after her ride falls through, he can’t not help the damsel in distress.
Marie ends up asking Leo to be her driver for the rest of her trip. What happens next is straight out of a Hallmark movie, only with a lot more steam.

This is a super sexy Hallmark movie in book form and I am here for it! I LOVED the relationship between Leo and his little sister Gabby. I also loved how all the other characters connected with Gabby and adored her. I think she was secretly my favorite character too. :) Leo is a grumpy guy that readers will enjoy reading as his walls break down and he falls for the Princess. Was it predictable? Yes. Was it cheesy? Also yes. Highly recommend if you're a Hallmark movie fan and like some sexy steam in your books.

I could've done with a little less on-page sex—dirty talk in books really is not my cup of tea, especially in audiobooks LOL—but this was such a great reverse "The Prii-ce and Me" story, so I'll let it go. Also, I don't know why, but my brain was like, hell yeah I want christmas magic! And thankfully this delivered.
