this was quite disappointing and not the tea for me. i feel like this was a puzzle, and its fun to read puzzle books, but it never gave you enough information to solve the puzzle and then it wasn't complex enough to feel satisfying when you understood what was going on. the characters weren't that interesting to me, and the plot was just okay. i feel like reading other people's thoughts made me appreciate it more, and i did have a good time reading it, but i don't think it was a very good book tbh.

I wasn't really blown away by this book. I appreciate that it was abstract, and it did convey the tone of confusion and fear well, but I felt like it didn't really have much of a focus and personally, that didn't appeal to me. I think I also didn't connect to the characters, and that made it less engaging. It was good as an experimental novella, and I liked what it was trying to do, I just don't necessarily believe it executed it in a manner that I enjoyed, or thought was particularly interesting.

got pretty much nothing out of this. if there was some overarching theme or deeper meaning the author didn't do a good job of conveying it. 2 stars for the technical skill of the writing and the back-and-forth suspense of the dialogue between the mother and David, but that's about the only good things i can think of here.
