I appreciate what the author does here, it just wasn’t for me. The technicality of the structure is impressive though and I always appreciate an author who bends genre. This feels like a great fit for fans of Mona Awad’s Bunny.
The tension is well written, but it's too confused without enough resolution.

More literary than I’m used to, but I enjoyed it! I like the perspective, but I was looking more for paranormal than dying hallucination trying to understand what happened . I had to google the end of the book to get what the author was getting across, but that’s mostly because my comprehension skills are not very sharp with literary books
- Characters - 8.5; I found Amanda very compelling, but tragic. I was imagining David as kind of an Arturo (from Geek Love) given the kind of omnipresent voice he has, and was a little disappointed that there wasn’t the follow through
- Atmosphere/Tone - 8.5; I love a book that
ends in unresolved tragedy - Writing/Style - 8.5; very partial to an unreliable narrator
- Plot - 7; at times hard to follow, and I wanted it gnarlier
- Pacing - 8; honestly pretty good, because of the guiding voice
- Worldbuilding - NA
- Relationships - 8; not really applicable except the different parent/child dichotomies, but those were pretty thought provoking
- Enjoyment - 7; a little slow for me
- Bonus points - negative one for not actually having worms :(
