While a lot of the book felt a bit dated, and closer to the thoughts of a 14 yo woman than a 40 yo one, some characters we're truly awful people in the best way. Gary was written to be genuinely hateful lol

I don’t know how to feel! It was nostalgic and very reminiscent of the original series, but I was slightly underwhelmed. The plot with Gary was icky (although so were the plots in some of the originals so that makes sense - she doesn’t shy away from tough topics), and I felt I wanted more from the Lottie and her dad plot line. I would have enjoyed more Magda and Nadine content but it is true that people age and have less and less time for friends sadly, especially when there are children in the mix. Ellie was a bit infuriating but felt real. The whole thing felt like it was still written for teens just with adult characters imo. I’m glad I read it and I did enjoy it, but enjoying something doesn’t actually make it good. Still love you though JW and would read another one in the series if it appears!

Was nervous as I loved JW as a kid and didn't know how well she'd do an adult book. I was wrong. I throughly enjoyed it. A story of friendship, of finding yourself and becoming comfortable as you, with a side trope of romance towards the end.
