This doesn't quite make it as an adult novel - the characters are flat, the writing is flat and the plot is predictable.

i wasn’t that into this when i started reading but i enjoyed reading it.
i was happy that ellie didn’t stay with guy, it reminded me of some of my previous relationships.
i did suspect that her and alice would end up together so kind of predictable but it was a nice ending.

I read all the Girls series excited to try this one out and I must say it was a bit of a let down. Little things like giving Mr Windsor the wrong name and big things like 90% of the plot being about Mr Windsor being a total freak rather than about idk the friendship between the girls (and not making noose jokes at Nadine after she got strangled)
dark emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced

This was the perfect escape from my actual life over the past week and I did really enjoy falling back into the world of Ellie Allard. Quite a lot of the storylines weren’t developed as much as I’d hoped they would be, way too much time was spent on Gary and the ending was wildly abrupt. But ultimately it was like a warm nostalgic hug which made me laugh out loud and also tear up a bit at points

And obviously I was SO GLAD that Russell’s only feature was like 2 paragraphs long

giving her five stars with the STRICT proviso that the published version will have a hundred extra pages at the end bc why was the most important plot point literally rushed into half a page
