The premise was good and I applaud the author for the imaginative story. Somehow the story seemed to fall flat. It felt like it could be epic but it seemed to miss a build up and didn’t depict the setting well enough. I suppose if this is the build up to the next, it works, but then it’s a bit of a pointless novel. I’ll read the second but I suspect it would have been better for one novel rather than split.
