Made me anxious!! The protagonist was so passive.

What the fuck!! Everyone in the reviews is like haha this is so freaky and weird but fun 🤪 spoiler what they actually mean is multiple characters including the narrator protagonist are pedophiles
Graphic: Pedophilia

This book is so weird, so uncomfortable and off-putting in many ways, and still somehow so compelling. Describing it accurately feels impossible to do. I had strange dreams every night after reading it.

I wanted to like this but I didn't. I like all its 'weirdness', still I couldn't make out what July is trying to say overall. (Also I'm appaled by the protagonist's heterosexual desire for Philipp. But that's on me, not the book, I guess.)

I think Lena Dunham put it best when she said that Miranda July was perverting norms...
This book was funny and so very weird and made me question where it was going so many times but I ended up loving it. I honestly couldn't tell if Miranda July was taking the piss or it was actually a really intelligent book that had deeper meaning... eventually I just let it all go and just read it. I'm so glad I did instead of trying to analyse what everything meant as I was able to take the book just as it was.
If I recommended this book to people, they might think of me as highly eccentric/odd but I recommend it to anyone who isn't easily offended.

Sometimes predictable and quite stupid, sometimes funny in a sad way. Several times it made me laugh out loud on the train. I do love the title, though. Might re-read.
