I LOVED IT!
I loved everything about it! The story, the plot, the art work, EVERYTHING!
Seconds it's such a CHARMING, BEAUTIFUL, HILARIOUS read.
I strongly advice you to read it if you haven't done it yet.

While I still have a passion for the beloved series of Scott Pilgrim (and the movie of course), I was a bit disappointed that Seconds wasn't as pleasing of a read. However I still enjoyed the concept and the art! I remained glad reading it, in general, especially since it was a work of Bryan Lee O'Malley. I found a little laugh at the reused line of, "Bread makes you FAT?" being spoken in the character's own surprise.

this is the second book thats made me sob today

I loved this so darn much and I'm filing it away as a graphic novel to recommend to people who don't think they are fans of graphic novels.

Firstly, I loved that this was longer than most of what I've read so far in this category. I know, I know. My long history of reading novels is showing, but there was meat to this story and it felt complete in a way that other graphic novels haven't always for me. It isn't necessarily about length, but just that it felt like I had enough time with the characters and with the story.

I loved the humor here-- little things like Katie responding to the narrator or off-handed comments Katie makes that don't really have to do with anything, but give her character.

The art was so vivid. I loved that while the story had darker tones at points, the artwork itself never strayed too far from adorable. It creates a nice juxtaposition. I want the tree Katie sees with the different turning points and the blue background on a shirt and as my phone's background and as wallpaper and maybe I can paint my car that way? It is stunning.

The end felt a little bit rushed and a bit too tidy, which is why after thinking on it, I docked the story a star.

The topic of fixing your mistakes is not brand new, but it is so easy to relate to. How easy would it be to quickly fill up a notebook of daily mistakes? Things that, had they gone differently, could change everything in your life. I liked that O'Malley looks at the do-over stuff from the point of view of, "if time changes, are you still you?" Katie found herself in a different life, sure, but she hadn't experienced the things that her magic mushrooms made possible. It was all fairly thought provoking, which was nice.

Here's a graphic novel that I would love to revisit, and slowly. I was so invested in the story I had to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the art.

I'm so happy I picked this one up.

love putting all my responsibilities. love finishing a book in the morning! love when it feels like life is resembling itself in the things i read! PLEASE read this!!!!

This is a sweet, funny graphic novel from the author and artist behind Scott Pilgrim, very much in the same vein. It blends real life with fantastical elements and has a strong female lead. What’s not to love?

Katie is the head chef at a restaurant called Seconds, but her dream is to own her very own restaurant. She has started to make her dream come true but it isn’t going smoothly. Her ex-boyfriend Max keeps turning up at Seconds, she’s having an affair with the man she’s supposed to be training up to replace her, and the builders at her new restaurant keep calling with bad news. When she causes an accident through negligence Katie knows something has to change…and somehow it does.

This has elements of a classic folk or fairy tale, including the idea that being able to put right mistakes won’t necessarily result in everything turning out perfectly. It also has a lovely strand about female friendship, as Katie alleviates her loneliness by getting to know her waitress Hazel. In familiar Bryan Lee O’Malley fashion, there are no clear right answers
