Highly recommend you listen in one sitting. I didn't and kind of got confused by the different stories. But it was still a solid read with some interesting, thought provoking elements.

I would die for Lao Bingyi, and Khanh's Grandpa-Energy is glorious.

This installment did much the same as the second one, in that it explored how stories change depending on who is telling them, and how the truth can be complicated. While not as inventive as the first two, this next chapter leaned heavily into character and how characters interact with history. I want to keep Lao Bingyi and Khanh, but I know that Chih and Almost Brilliant have more adventures with different characters ahead of them.

Another interesting exploration of more of this world but again not as good as Empress of Salt and Fortune. Still fun though! I loved the discussion of who history finds beautiful and why.

While not being my most favorite of the Singing Hills Cycle, it's still a really good addition to the series. It stills shows the themes of the power of stories, how you shouldn't always believe everything you read or hear, and the different ways that a story can be told. We get to journey with our favorite Cleric joined again by their loyal partner Almost Brilliant as they travel into a new part of this world called the Riverlands. The one thing that I thought was that the characters were not as memorable as the previous two novellas, I felt like they needed a bit more personality to make them stand out more. Other than that the story was really well told and I still enjoyed the book overall.

I can't wait to continue this series and see where the other books will take us to!
