Another great installment in the series.

I picked The Disappeared up on a whim from my local library in part because the story was set during winter in Wyoming and my city just had the hottest May on record. I'm glad I did, because I really enjoyed this story. C.J. Box weaves together a massive conspiracy and the case of a missing woman without shorting either story line. My one issue with The Disappeared was the slightly rushed conclusion, but that's a common complaint I have for mysteries.

I love the Joe Pickett series and this one did not disappoint. I love how he is such an honest man yet has a reputation for always finding trouble.

By far the weakest book in the series. Full of far fetched story arcs and stereotypes. What happened to Joe's threats to Missy if she ever returned? The more I think about the plot, the more ridiculous it gets. The portrayal of the British woman was trite (didn't get the comment about her hangovers to be expected because she was British???). Even the way Nate was drawn into the plot was ridiculous. David Chandler's narration was poor because of the accents and voices he used - shame as I usually like him. This is the last Joe Picket book for me.

A great mystery! If you are looking for a change from big city mystery setting give this series a try. Wyoming game warden, Joe Pickett solving a missing person case with his long time cohort master falconer Nate Romanowski, former special forces (a unique personality type of guy). The dynamic between the two is addicting and makes me want to read the next book now.

Wow a below average Pickett book. This one wasn’t an example of Box’s best work. The Disappointment would have been a more appropriate title.

Excellent

Well developed characters. A little light on plot but good read. Keeps you interested and guessing at outcome. Will read more from this author.

4.5 Great as always. You don't get to book #18 in a series without having a great character! Always nice to see Nate show up in these books; he's a favorite character. The new governor and the supervisor are difficult people for Joe to deal with. Lots of politics and bureaucracy, when all he wants to do is get his job done. One of my favorite authors and series.
