Some parts were a little over my head with some of the philosophy stuff. But it def was still a great read!
I enjoyed this book so much. The psychology. The thriller part. How dark and gritty it is. The romance. Just everything about this book appealed to me. This book feels like it was made for me and I just enjoyed it, so much.
I received an arc of this book and this is my honest opinion

This book is way too good!! The way it captivates your mind and psychologically changes the way you think, blew me away!! Trisha really out did herself with this one and there’s another one to get through!!
“It’s the lovely bad things that steal into our thoughts in the middle of the night and tempt us across the line between good and evil.
Some say eyes are the window to one soul and the day Kallum Locke’s eyes met with hers she was terrified of the man and falling into his darkness. His soul was black as was his heart.
Halen is called to yet another crime scene and the gruesome act of violence found in the legendary town gives her no choice but to turn to Kallum for his wisdom. The catch being he’s currently locked away in an asylum for the criminally insane.
He’s the only expert in Neitzsche and occult and to get the answers she seeks she must made a deal with the devil.
The day Kallum laid eyes on Halen he knew she was his kryptonite. When fate brings them back together he wonders how far she’ll really go to get the answers she needs. The lure is set and Kallum’s teeth are ready to sink into Halem. And the pain will taste twice as sweet.
True KU form I read it in a sitting. It dark and gruesome and it’s really like nothing I’ve ever read before. I didn’t see the twist coming.

Trigger warning serial killers, crime scenes, murder, violence, blood, and knife play.

holy WOW
This book had me hooked from beginning to end. The mystery, intrigue, crime, philosophy, dark occult, soooo wrong it’s right, steamy, creepy, conspiracy theories, addictive. If you love DARK romance and true crime - then I highly suggest you give this a try. Also Kallum…. Just wow.

A profiler for the FBI sends a murderer to an insane asylum at the beginning of this visceral story full of magic and mayhem, only to need his expertise in philosophy and mythology on a future case. Kallum, a tattooed psychopath with a penchant for understanding ambiguity, stole my heart from his first unhinged chapter. He is intelligent, sexy, and yes, very, very unhinged, but I went into that knowing that's how I like my fictional men. Tall, dark, handsome, and unhinged. Put that on my Starbucks order, please. I'll know it's for me. Anyway, this story was strange! I read a review that reminded the reader of the Dungeons and Dragons season of Riverdale. It's true, but there's something about our two main characters and their chemistry, along with the beautiful writing, that makes you keep turning pages until you get to that epic TWIST. I am in awe. You must read this!
You know what? This was AWESOME. Like, genuinely fun and “why-can’t-I-stop-reading” addictive.
I had initially sampled this author when I stumbled across her novel “With Visions of Red”. While I had read the whole thing it was a short and fairly simple read and I was neither unimpressed nor wowed by the end of it. I had figured bc of those initial feelings I wouldn’t really much enjoy her other works as well.
Well, boy, was I wrong.
Don’t get me wrong, there were still a couple of cringe moments in this novel too but what set it apart from that first introduction I had with this author was the tone.
How do I describe it?
This novel was DENSER. This work invoked more feeling in me while I read it. The settings were so gorgeously described that my imagination mashed it up with the gorgeous but macabre set designs of my absolutely favorite show Hannibal with astonishing ease. I was enticed by those parallels when I first started reading and then swallowed whole, entranced and enraptured, when it was no longer the same but still similar enough to visualize theses scenes so, SO clearly.
This novel was decadent where her WVOR novel was simply a canapés. Cute. Fun. I nibbled while it was in front of me. But in no way does it compare to the entire Entrée this novel presented like in conjuncture.
Well done Ms Author. I just ate a hat I didn’t know I was wearing. Well played indeed. I, of course, now find myself waiting with baited breath for the next installment in this series. Don’t move, I’m busy shamelessly throwing myself at your feet for an “@“ when it’s out. ✨
