This story! Oh my me, it grabbed me by the lady nuggets from the get go! The tenacity of Charlie to the gruffness of Garrett! As with their other books, Piper Rayne made me laugh out loud and this story made me cry too! But in a good way, and that is hard to do! I loved the glimpse of previous characters and introductions to new ones! As a parent of a preteen I so got the issues surrounding Sydney and her interactions with Garrett. What a way to finish the "Single Dads" series!

Sexy Beast, the story of Charlie and Garrett, is one I have been waiting for since the start of the Single Dads Club series, and these two did not disappoint.
Garrett is just the gruff single dad I was hoping he would be. He has endless love for his daughter, which will make some ovaries explode. More than that, though, he is just a good man. He wants to do his job well, surround himself with the people he cares about, and be the best father he can be to his daughter, Sydney. Although he has much going for him, he is weighed down by the fear of a previous loss, and this apprehension prevents him from living a full life.
Charlie is several years younger than Garrett, and they have known each other from a very young age. She has crushed on him for several years, but now, as an adult, she is going to make her move. Readers are going to love that she is the aggressor in the beginning. She decides that she wants him and completely goes for it. Charlie also has a completely compassionate side that makes her the perfect fit for this broken family.
I really loved the story Piper Rayne created for these two. They balance the serious nature of loss and love with the hilarious antics of a single dad raising a pre-teen daughter hitting puberty. Not only do these moments make the reader laugh, but they serve to show Garrett that he needs to open his heart again. The connection between Charlie and Garrett is authentic and makes their quickly developing relationship believable for the reader. What really becomes endearing about this story, though, is seeing this trio become something real and beautiful.
This has been another great series from Piper Rayne. They always bring fun characters and stories, but what I really love is that there is always some twist to their stories I usually don't see coming, which keeps this reader coming back for more.

This book was fighting an uphill battle. I don't love dead partner tropes. I don't love longtime pining/unrequited love tropes. I don't like unplanned pregnancy tropes. Garrett and Charlie were both solid as characters and I liked them together. I also liked Charlie and Sydney's relationship.
A few things that I just didn't like and that drug things down for me:
A few things that I just didn't like and that drug things down for me:
A good OBGYN will not tell a patient "congratulations" when they just learned they have an unplanned pregnancy. They also wouldn't start talking about a birthing plan or even ultrasound before knowing the person's plan to continue the pregnancy or not. Related, I get a annoyed when books and characters just assume that a character who gets pregnant unplanned will obviously continue the pregnancy. Even if that's the resolution, I want the story to take place in a world where abortion at least exists. - Garrett's reaction was pretty bad. Believable, sure. But still really really bad. All around, that scene was just an illustration in bad communication.
The narrators were good, though.

Oh Garrett, took you long enough.
I feel that while this one is a stand a-lone you need to read the other two first to see how much Charlie loves Garrett before diving into this. If I were to read this one first it won't make a bunch of sense how quickly things progressed, but since I had read the other two it seemed seamless.
THAT SAID.......
Can we talk about how amazing the KIDS of Climax Cove are??? Not a bunch is said about them and not much "aghast" about their Dad's falling in love. I'm go glad to see that the kids are happy for their Dads.
Maybe a short YA with Sydney as the lead.........
I did want more sexy times with the Sexy Beast. I wanted more of how he rocks Charlie's world after all the years of pining.

Garrett, oh, sweet Garrett. What can I say about this book? I LOVED this whole series and it's a toss up on which book I loved the most so I'm going to be that book hoe and take all of them. Garrett's story is heartbreaking and you just want to love him and wrap your arms around him.
Charlie was just an amazing character and I love how she never gave up on him.
Amazingly wonderful series!
