This book was just as good as the first one. At first I wasn't sure if I was liking the book because I could tell Ridley wasn't going to be in a lot of the book, but after a little bit in it started getting good, and of course left me with a cliffhanger in which now I neeeed the third book.

I AM FEELING ALL THE FEELS RIGHT NOW

The only good thing about this series is the covers. I hated that ending. Horrible. I don't even want to read the 3rd one, but I need to know how all this shit is resolved.

Yes I won this book off Goodreads but I would have bought it any way. Amanda Hocking continues the story of Bryn and Ridley in this second book of the Kanan trilogy. This one gives the reader a more detailed view into the Skojare tribe. There were a few twists that were unexpected and that's always a good thing. The only bad thing is that I have to wait until August to conclude the series.
adventurous emotional mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: N/A

Kanin chronicles are probably my favourite in the entire series. Love the setting. Love the whole world Amanda has created.
Fantastic books. Recommended.

Honestly I thought maybe some of my questions from the first book would’ve been answered but noooo, there are only more questions. The Queen is shady AF and Konstantin was only in two scenes, the final page and in a vision that lasted 5 seconds somewhere in the middle. Ughhhh

Oh well on to the next one... I might as well finish it now

This girl can't catch a break!! Just when I think she's got it all lined up, someone comes and messes it all up.

This book was filled with all kinds of excitement, I found myself reading so quickly, just trying to get to the bottom of things. Of course, once one problem was solved, another would pop up. But I like to be kept on my toes, so this was good.

I want her with Ridley. But to be with him is against the rules. But I think the rules are silly. So I'm still holding out hope.

Someone needs to get to the bottom of Konstantin and all his craziness. I don't think he's truly bad, but I think he's stuck doing bad things. Perhaps there's a way for redemption.

The ending was CRAZY!! I'm sad and angry. But yet I'm hopeful. I can't wait to start the next book!! I have theories that I need confirmation. I hope I'm right. I hope there's an HEA.

Wow ok this book was so entertaining and fast paced and I really enjoyed it. I felt so many things for all the characters which was so cool! I loved the ending it was really strong and I'm crazy excited to pick up the next book!

Equally fast-paced and light, Ice Kissed was a lovely sequel. We finally get some answers and things are looking up in Bryn's love-life. That CLIFFHANGER though!!!!

First things first, Ice Kissed has a beautiful cover. I love everything about it.

It picks up right after Frostfire, after Bryn figures out that Viktor, the man who tried to kill the king several years back, is back with a vengeance. For the rest of the novel, Bryn tries to unravel the mystery surrounding the Skojare royal family, which, hopefully, would also shed light on the Viktor/Konstantin situation. The story as a whole, though, wasn't particularly memorable. Nothing really happens, and we don't necessarily get very much development regarding the big bad or his ultimate goal. I definitely enjoyed the world-building, and the setting itself was just magical. The Skojare and their home are described in such a fantastic way.

I do have one big peeve with this story: the fact that Bryn and Kasper are incredibly naive. Near the end, when they deduce the identity of the... culprit, they never stop to consider the ramifications of their actions. Perhaps it is the soldier in them that gives them complete faith in their superiors, but I honestly believe that they should have tread more carefully. After all, is it not better to protect inter-tribe relations by turning a blind eye than to possibly cause a war based on false accusations? These people are supposed to be smart, but I found their actions remarkably foolish. Maybe Game of Thrones has made me overly cynical.

I didn't feel much of a connection with the characters, though. The protagonist was definitely developed, but I didn't get emotionally invested in anyone else, really. I have little to no investment in the romance between Bryn and Ridley. Their chemistry isn't very potent, and while I think Ridley is a nice guy, the two of them as a couple isn't very compelling. I personally found other characters, like Kennet, to be far more interesting. Also, I think this book needed more Konstantin. He was part of what made the first book so interesting. Unfortunately, we don't see too much of him, even if his presence lurks around.

At the very least, my interest is piqued enough for me to go pick up a copy of Crystal Kingdom.
