I liked Frostfire (book 1), so I was pretty quick to check Ice Kissed out at the library. I really can’t seem to get enough of magical fantasy worlds. And if they’re somehow interlaced with our own world, look out! I’m there!
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Ice Kissed, other than it was a continuation of the series. It pretty much picked up where Frostfire left off and the character relationships really grew. I don’t just mean romantic relationships. Speaking of romance though, there was a quick scene that’s probably not appropriate for anyone under the age of 16 (it’s not graphic though).
I liked Bryn in Ice Kissed a little more than Frostfire. She was still a tiny bit too angsty for my taste, but I think she was better overall. Ridley is still freaking awesome, but I might be a tad sexist on this one. I actually had a “You go girl!” moment when Bryn finally called Ridley out in Ice Kissed. It helps that she was right though. I liked that we saw a little more of Hilda and Kasper. They’re just adorable.
Ice Kissed was darker than Frostfire, which I really liked. Amanda Hocking does a great job of moving her character’s emotions in a believable way within the story, no matter how crazy it gets. It makes them seem real and you start to care about what happens to them.
I really liked Ice Kissed and will be looking forward to the release of Crystal Kingdom in August. Since it is the second book in a series, I would recommend Ice Kissed if you’ve already read Frostfire.

Interesting, but felt very slow. May have just been my mood at the times I picked it up though.
I have to say, just like the first book in this series, Frostfire, I was once again blown away by how much I love this world and these characters. And even though it has been since December that I'd read the first book, I was able to jump right back in and not feel like I'd forgotten anything. In fact, there were little details sprinkled throughout the beginning that totally filled in any gaps of things forgotten, without being a total information dump. After reading, I'm so glad I have the egalley of the third book ready to go, and I started it this morning. I need to know what happens next. I love that these books have been released just months apart instead of years in between each one. They could probably have been one big book, but this works as well for me. I understand the publishers wanting money and all of that. But this is the way to split it up so that we don't have so long to wait in between. I'm still a huge fan of this author, the writing style is easy to read and definitely grabs you and keeps your attention. Stay tuned for my review of the third book later this week as I'm reading it right now!

I liked the beginning, the middle part was a bit weak but the ending was really, really good! I'm so happy that I have the third book right here so I can continue reading.

I really enjoyed Frostfire but I still stand by my earlier review, I needed more romance, more action and more intrigue. Ice Kissed delivers this; thank god I carried on with this series!
Frostfire ended with Bryn discovering that the two most dangerous traitors of Kanin are working together but with still no leads on what their end goal is, the kingdom must plan for war. The darkness that has surrounded Kanin regarding Konstantin seems to have spread to Skojare. Bryn is sent to investigate and with the Queen of Skojare suddenly missing she assumes someone is after the throne and must ask fast before the kingdom falls to ruins.
I’m happy to say that Ice Kissed contained a lot more action and mystery. By mystery, I mean that everyone Bryn spoke to became an instant suspect, they all had something to gain and acted strange and refused to help in the investigation. Even without help Bryn is dangerously close to unveiling a secret between the troll kingdoms and finally discovering who is behind it all, as in Frosfire we have yet to discover who is pulling the strings. It was nice to have a more in depth look Skojare with it's magical palace immersed in water and the magic behind the kingdom.
I definitely liked Bryn a lot more in this, although I admired her strong mind when it came to her career, I don’t think she realised how much of her life she would have to give up. Whereas in this finally she was able to see things in a different light, no longer looking at her friends having children or getting married as being the end of their career but in fact the start or something more meaningful, she definitely grew up a lot and gained a better perspective.
The romance was turned up a notch, it was crazy hot with Ridley but I still wanted more, there was still only one or two moments. Bryn was obviously spending the majority of the book in Skojare so we didn’t see much of Ridley and despite my love for him he’s really an important character so I hope she gets more page time in the last installment.
So with the added action, romance and court politics I was very very impressed. I was much more engrossed in this book and trying my hardest to guess the villain and bigger plot involving Konstantin and Viktor Dålig. I was disappointed that we still don’t know what this great scheme is, it’s been two books now and surely we should have some hint at what’s going on? I can’t see any connection between kidnapping changelings and missing royalty, so I just wish we knew a little bit more but the ending of Ice Kissed has made sure that I will definitely be reading Crystal Kingdom whether I’d received the ARC or not, it’s shaped up to be an explosive ending. I would definitely urge readers who enjoyed Frostfire to carry on with series!

This book was really fun and enjoyable read. In this book it gave us a bit more understanding about the world build up, which made me like it more.
the characters are well done and each have their own personalitys. Can we stop and take a second and think about Ridley. RIDLEY has to be my favourite characters in a book, ever, I love his character so much (plus hes funny and cute he wants to be).
The author left us on a cliff hanger and i cant wait 3 months until the last book comes out

2 1/2 stars rounded up because of the ending. Like the first book in the series it was a slow moving story with not much action and too much emphasis placed on the relationship between Bryn and Ridley. I'm hoping the last book in this trilogy is better based on the ending of this book.
That thing that happened at the end...the whole book I was like what if that happens and then it did. Actually really excited to see what happens in the third book, this one was more enjoyable and easier to get into than the first.
