holy crap holy crap.

ok so i just finished this book.

and i kinda don't wanna write a review, i just wanna read the next book.

this book is incredible. the characters, romance, storyline, plot twists, betrayals and every piece of this book is incredible.

it's made the 5 star shelf.

I muched prefer the setting of the second book. I loved seeing Damen rise from slave to captain, along with army drama. There's a lot of army tactics and strategies..which I suppose isn't what own looks for in a 'romance' novel, but I was having a hoot.
I did enjoy seeing Laurent and Damens relationship evolve. Though I do see that everyone here has a lot of pent up trauma... Everyone has issues...

Whenever I read too many disappointing books, I read the Captive Prince trilogy. Prince's Gambit is my favorite. It is the middle book, but unlike many seconds in a trilogy, it isn't a chore to get through. It picks up immediately where book 1 left off, no weird cliffhangers or slow pacing. Also, for a romance, it has a high heat level and great chemistry between the couple.

Satisfying read and great reread. :)

3.5

If I thought I was in love with these characters before its nothing to how I feel now. Laurent and Damon are such phenomenal characters. Put in a position where they should rightly hate each other you keep yearning for them to figure it out. They are such the perfect compliment to each other. This book is going down as one of my favorites.

Laurent is such a twisted character, never sure how far you can really trust him. He always has more going on than he admits to. He and Damon are so different yet the both love their countries with the same sort of passion they've just been trained by their upbringings to react differently. This book slowly starts to close the divide between these two men. The ending reveal throws everything you've ever thought about Laurent into question again. It always seems like just when their might be an honest moment between these two something comes to derail it all again.

I'm so in love with these characters.

JUST WHEN YOU THINK THAT MAYBE LAURENT DOESN'T KNOW EVERYTHING, YOU. ARE. WRONG.
HE KNOWS EVERYTHING

Compared to the first book, I enjoyed this way more. The story is more interesting and not as dreading as the first book. Laurent becomes more likeable and the dynamic between Laurent en Damen is an interesting one that leads you to keep reading. The story was interesting and it has me left curious to the third book of the series.

Oh my goodness. I didn’t like the first book but I still held high expectations for this book, and it did not disappoint. The suspense, the tension, the shock…chef’s kiss.
It was written amazingly and it made me want to pick up the third book immediately. I’m so glad it’s published and I have my hands on it because I might have cried if I had to wait any longer to read it. THE CLIFFHANGER. I called it though…still amazing.
Damen and Laurent’s slow burn love story is absolutely suburb. I don’t usually like slow burns but this on is written so well, between action and romance, it’s pretty perfect.
This has quickly turned into one of my favourite series.
