ya idk why im doing this to myself

I love this book so much I can't even explain. One of my favorites of all time

Juliette joins the X-Men and further figures out her powers while also deciding if she should be in love with a homicidal maniac’s son. The writing in this book is compelling so I think I’ll keep going, but coming from Romantasy, I find the two MMC‘s less than ideal. Neither one of them really appreciates Juliette for what she’s worth and one seems to love her because she is a freak and not due to any intrinsic potential that she has. Warner in particular seems to want to exploit how messed up she is, which is not a quality in a protagonist that I admire. Juliette’s obsession with the bad boy that she shouldn’t have — true to her namesake — is not the pining, “will she won’t she,” push-pull that I want it to be. In fact, it starts to get a little annoying at the end. But I was patient with Auren in Gild and I have this niggling feeling that I should be patient with Juliette and see her narrative through at least book 3.

I liked it!! Just as the first one it was an immersive and super quick read, but I liked this one a little better. I enjoyed seeing more of the world and powers, and the ending was truly promising for the next one as well. I was like YES FINALLY

DID NOT FINISH

I feel like the first book is a wattpad story. The FMC is 17 years old but she comes off as super younger for me. This series is definitely meant for teenager, etc. I am way too old and way too mature for this series.

I am absolutely eating this series up. This was almost 500 pages and yet it felt like nothing. It was so easy to read page after page and fall into the world, the characters, the story. I am so intrigued by how this could possibly go on for almost 12 books. Granted some are novellas, but still. over 2000 pages worth of books and the story is just beginning. I am enraptured by Aaron Warner. Juliette is just becoming the heroine she needs to be, and I'm super excited to see how her story unfolds in coming books. I'm still on the fence about Aaron for her. He seems to love her and he cares for her clearly, but he messes with her head as much as he comforta her, and that's hard for me to wrap my head around. I'm also invested in Winston and Brendan if I'm being honest. So much to come back to, so much to keep my attention. I needed this series when I was in middle/highschool.
