Extraordinary is correct. Montgomery has a way of making you see the world, and its animals, through her eyes. It's hard to read her without changing your perspective on the lives of "lesser" creatures.

Part pig biography, part autobiography. Very sweet.

Sy Montgomery is one of my new favourite authors and people. After reading her memoir ’How To Be A Good Creature’ I was delighted to find out that she had written many more books and I could learn even more about the creatures in her life.

Sy is one of those, one of a kind people, that you don’t come across very often. Who completely loves and respects all animals, including those who tend to be misunderstood.

The way she describes a spider that she made friends with on one of her research trips that she went on to study spiders, tells me just the kind of person she is. I hold much respect for her.

In this book ‘The Good Good Pig’ it follows the story of Christopher a runt that Sy and her partner took in when it was unlikely he would have made it otherwise. It follows their life, the lessons Sy learned from Christopher and much more pig related facts that I never knew I needed to know.

It’s such a good read especially for the animal lover in your life.

I loathe pigs and still found this story of a pig's life fascinating.

I loved reading about Christopher Hogwood. The audio was excellent. I have enjoyed every book I’ve read by this author. She touches the deepest parts of humanity by showing us the truth about animals.

I have always wanted to have a pig! Sy Montgomery weaves a beautiful tale about family, love, compassion and community that is lyrical. She is by far one of my favorite nonfiction writers!

DID NOT FINISH

I wanted to like this, but I kept getting the pervasive feeling that this family should not have continued to acquire pets. Between the poor husbandry (beer for the pig? Really?) and improper management (like the fact that unspayed ferrets have a risk of death) I just couldn't read any further. I have too much experience with animals who have been on the receiving side of well-intentioned humans that grab up animals to fix their own problems instead of being able to provide the best for them.

I will never look at pigs the same again.

Sy Montgomery is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This book chronicles her life with Christopher Hogwood, her 700+ pound pig. It made me laugh and cry! Great read for animal lovers!! I also recommend her book "The Soul of an Octopus".
