If there was a Twilight book template; this author followed it perfectly. The story is different than the Twilight books, but the feel is the same. It is a great teenager book with good values. The characters are interesting and lovable. This is the first book of the Crossroad Saga Series. It did not hook me enough to read the next books, but if I was 16; I would think differently.

What an absolutely enticing book! Most definately one of the best I've read this year! The author has captured the being that is human so truthfully that it make you think about life and beyond! The book contains everything you need to make it a great, unputdownable book: love, courage, hope, sadness, heartache, longing and of course adventure! Three Cheers to Mary Ting who has done an amazing job with this one! Absolutely fabulous! Would recommend it to anyone and everyone! The time for Angels is now!

Remember, that you always have your guardian angel....and keep away from the Crossroads.

This was the weirdest book ever. It had some interesting views, mostly from a religious standpoint that I thought were interesting. It's basically a story about the crossroad of heaven and earth. I don't even know how I ended up with this book.

Crossroads is not your typical angel story. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I really loved it and I hope that the sequel is just as unique and captivating.

Crossroads is a place between Heaven and Earth where people who are in comas or have had near death experiences go (or at least they do when they are asleep.) Claudia has never had an experience like that but for some reason she can visit Crossroads. I couldn't guess why she could visit Crossroads but it was explained eventually. The idea of Crossroads was really interesting and the angels that guarded it were my favorite characters. I loved Davin. He was very fun and quirky. Michael was super romantic and such a sweetheart. Vivian was someone I would want as a friend and Caleb was shy but by the end of the book I felt like I knew him.

The story itself was the best part of the book. When Claudia crossed over into Crossroads she was marked. That meant that fallen angels and demons could find her and they were after her. I never knew when a demon or fallen angel was going to come after Claudia and it made the book very suspenseful.

Overall, Crossroads is a very unique story but it, of course, has its flaws. I would have liked to see more personality from Michael and a little more bravery from Claudia. I hope to see some improvements on those few things in the next book.

This book wasn't memorable. I mean everything was good... it just didn't stand out among the other YA book. It was just... normal.
It's like this for every book now... I'm beginning to dislike reading! :(
Please recommend me some books so I can get out of this reading block if there is such thing...

Crossroads was quite an interesting novel, pretty different than a lot of the books I've read recently. A girl named Claudia Emerson can travel during her sleep to this place called Crossroads, which is basically like a limbo-land for people in comas and such. She catches the eye of a handsome young half-angel, and from then her life is never the same.

I loved the concept of the Crossroads, and the concept of the alkins, but I felt like some of the angel mythology was a little too stereo-typical. Like, there's a city called Halo City, and well, that just sounded like a bit too much. But overall, it was a really interesting premise. I definitely want to see more of the inner-workings of the angel hierarchy, and maybe meet some other alkins, or full-blown angels in later books!

Character-wise, I liked Claudia, although I felt like she flew through so many emotions so quickly that it was kinda like "Whoa, there, slow down!" But she was kind-hearted and cared deeply for her family and friends, and very likable. The alkins, including the love interest Michael, were all amazing! I loved each of their distinct personalities! The only problem was there was some insta-love between Claudia and Michael. I would have loved to see their relationship build more gradually. They have an ultimate forbidden romance--the alkin can't fall in love with humans--so more tension would have been a delicious addition to the story. But still, Michael was romantic and loving, and I want to read more of him!

The writing was really the only part that fell a little flat for me. I felt like there was quite a bit of telling instead of showing, and some of the dialogue felt stilted. Mary Ting definitely had a unique and descriptive writing style, I just feel like it could have been fine-combed and polished up a bit more.

Overall, I give Crossroads 3.5 out of 5 stars!

The book was not great. It was just ok. I really didn't like how within 5 pages she was already madly in love and saying things like I always loved when he...yeah. They had only actually been around each other twice!!! Good story line. Poorly executed.

Too Sappy for me

I do enjoy YA lit and it usually involves a first love but I could barely get through the first chapter without gagging. Actually, stopped reading after chapter two. After a couple months I picked up the book again and just skipped the first chapters. It was a cute supernatural romance where they have to save the world. I won't be purchasing the next book but this wasn't so bad. It was entertaining.
