Received a copy for honest review.
I’m not even really sure what to say about this book. I love YA books and I loved the blurb for this book.
But it kind of fell flat, now I’m not saying I didn’t like the book at all because I did. There was something about the story and the characters that made me keep reading.
I loved the storyline and while it was boring and repetitive at times, I kept reading to see what was going to happen. I liked the fact this book was about Angels and half-human, half-Angels. It was something different to normal paranormal/fantasy YA books.
The story started very slow and there wasn’t a lot happening at the beginning. The storyline did become predictable as I was reading through. I would have loved something where I just couldn’t predict what would have happened next.
I had a lot of confusion reading for a few different reasons: from the prologue to chapter 1 we get 2 different characters POV’s and while I don’t hate having different characters POV’s this got confusing because it wasn’t pointed out. In some chapters, there wasn’t a lot of description of what was happening, what the characters were doing. I had to re-read at times to make sure I had read it correctly.
While I did like Claudia, she was kind of childish sometimes, with her actions. She met Michael and then all of sudden she was in love with him. It was what you would expect from a 12 year old not a 18 years old. Also some of the language the teenagers were using was stupid. It just wasn’t something a teenager would say.
I am left with a lot of unanswered questions with the story and the characters fate. I’m not sure if I will continue with the series.
But I did really enjoy the Angel side of the story, about Crossroads, Halo City, Fallen Angels and Demons etc I loved the detail that went into talking to Claudia about the history of the Angels, and the half breeds.
Also the fighting scenes were quite good, I loved the excitement of them and how they were detailed.

It was alright.

This book started out great, and I love the idea of angels and Nephilim, as that subject has always fascinated me when they were brought up in church and Sunday School. The more I read, the more it felt like a Twilight fan fiction book, whether that was the author's intent or not.

I was provided a free copy of this book by the author, [a:Mary Ting|4388953|Mary Ting|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1305420334p2/4388953.jpg], in a Goodreads giveaway. It's another spin on the angel/human supernatural YA genre, but this one is nice because it's about more than fighting a villain and forbidden romance.

This is a good YA book which I was pleasantly surprised by. Ting writes well, and since this is one of her first published books I'm sure she'll only get better.

There were times when I felt frustrated with Claudia as a character since she felt almost too perfect. Michael was a far more intriguing character for me. As well, the plot is very black and white and simple but that may change in future sequels. as well, parts were confusing as to the motives why Ting would include something in the plot, such as the two Claudia Emerson characters, but that can easily be looked over by the end of the book.

The relationship between Claudia and her Gamma was truly touching and made me tear up! Easily the best part of the book in my eyes.

The beginning of this book had me slightly confused and I wasn't sure if I could get into it. It starts with the main character Claudia Emerson is in what she believes to be a very lucid dream in a place like heaven, when her phone wakes her up her best friend is in a panic because a different Claudia Emerson was killed in a car accident while our Claudia was dreaming of heaven. I am sure this has relevance in the story overall, but after the first book I am still not sure what it is. This book is a forbidden love story between an alkine (child of a human + Angel relationship) and a human girl. Once she is touched by an alkine and taken to their home Halo City she because visible to the Fallen and demons. Michael, her guardian and the alkine that has watched her grow due to many forgotten visits to the Crossroads has sworn to protect Claudia from the evil that will try to take her soul. There is a plot twist which I cannot call unexpected, but it adds to the story and makes you think maybe everything will work out the way it is meant to eventually. Although, one of the most annoying things a character can do is keep a secret from someone because they aren't sure how things will work if they share their secret. We as readers know that if the truth is told they will discover things may be easier if everyone is on the same page and no one is left in the dark. Overall it was a sweet love story there were some gaping holes in the plot which may be answered in the follow-up books. The grammar and spelling was not terrible, very few mistakes. I will be looking into the next books because I have to know how it all ends. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a YA love story.

One of the best angel (or half angel) novel I've have come across. The plot was good. I like their whole heaven beneath the original heaven scheme. I also love it that the main guy is not the only one protecting the main girl. I love it that he has friends and his friends are willing to help him out even if they know that its forbidden. The only thing that has me doubting is how fast they fell for each other.. i mean i understand Michael's attraction.. but Claudia? she just met the guy..talk about falling fast and hard! Anywayy.. i am not a big fan of sappy lines and i admit, i found some of Michael's lines to be sappy sappy sappy.. i guess its part of his charm. Looking forward to the next book.

This isn't the type of book I would normally read, and I found some of the angel/half-angel stuff a bit odd and unbelievable, but it was actually pretty interesting, and had a sweet love story that I enjoyed.

WOW!! Seriously just WOW! Crossroads is one of those stories that you can just lose yourself in. With a gripping storyline and adorable main characters its everything that is wonderful about Young Adult Literature.

Crossroads is about 16 year old Claudia who while sleeping enters into a world called the Crossroads. There she meets Michael who has fallen in love with her before she even knew him. However, Claudia shouldn't be able to get into the Crossroads and soon everything she thought was true in life is turned upset down and she is being hunted by fallen angels.

The characters in this book are all so likeable. Claudia is really down to earth and even when faced with terrible situations she is still strong. When she meets Michael she is completely smitten. It's really easy to understand why. Even though at first Michael is rude to her. It's only because he confused about why he is feeling human emotional. You see Michael is an Alkin, half angel and half human. It's not long though until they are both madly in love and seriously the thing Michael say's to Claudia is so romantic it makes me jealous. My favourite character is another angel, Davin. He is just so funny and cute. There is just something that make you connect with him. He is just an all round nice person who is loyal to his friends.

Now the story at first was a little slow for the first couple of chapters. However, after I got into it I was completely hooked! The storyline is simply fantastic!! It's about angel but Mary has created a story that is completely different to more angel stories. She has put alot of Mythology behind her angels and it just makes the readers understand and connect easier with the characters.

Crossroads is a beautifully written debut novel that has everything you need for a outstanding read. Forbidden love, danger, angels and demons what not to love?
