While the connections to the cosmere are great, the Trell/Autonomy big baddies situation feels very disconnected and shoehorned from the rest of mistborn era 2. Era 2 never really works primarily since there isn't a big overarching plot that feels designed from the beginning, but lots of retroactive connections being made. The Ghostbloods being more fleshed out is great though, especially comparing them here to what they are like in Stormlight. It left me more excited for the cosmere in general that it did leave me enjoying the book itself. That all being said, the action and pacing were good, the magic was good, the characters were all good, and the reveals all mostly worked.

Another great ending, but I'  really sad that Wayne died. He was my favorite character 😭

This was nice to read just because it was familiar, but I wouldn’t say it was a good book. The best part was probably all of Sanderson’s blatant social justice statements, but the bluntness in regard to the rest of the book hurt its quality. It felt like we were sliding into pulp fiction. I wanted to have a connection with the characters, but I feel like the connection I was supposed to be having was spoon-fed to me without room for any of my own interpretation. I was too busy peering into the head of the author to peer into the heads of the characters. Curious if my tastes have just changed since the third one, or if this one was just written differently.

I liked this book! It's weird to be done with Mistborn. I really liked this story, I enjoyed a lot of it. 2 small complaints, one there was a scene or two where characters who should not have been able to hear eachother could (because of a speed bubble) where they still appeared to have in the scene. Second complaint, while the first trilogy felt very tied off and like a complete series, this much more so pushes the reader to the other books. Which I can see the merits and detriments of it but given that I have only read Mistborn in the Cosmere it feels a little bad.
That's it! Good book.

Era 2 couldn’t fully grab me, even in the last volume. It just can’t live up to my beloved Era 1.
Don’t get me wrong - I enjoyed Wax, Wayne, and their companions’ journeys, and the story itself was great. The writing and character voice were excellent, as I think they are in every Brandy Sandy book.
Buuut I just didn’t like the setting very much, and for me, honestly, the characters felt flat in comparison to those from Era 1.

What I did love were all the larger-scale Cosmere connections! I’d always read about them in reviews but could never quite picture them — now I get it, and I’m really excited for the upcoming Ghostblood series!
