Really informative and provides helpful ways with dealing with different effects of cptsd. I just finished going through the whole book and I will definitely go back to certain chapters when I need them.
Was personally a hard read as I faced revelations in each chapter but it was so worth it in the end. Pace yourself and take down notes of information that resonates.

Required reading for anyone with trauma. No jargon, and very helpful concrete steps for healing. Helps contextualize "emotional flashbacks," which occur when past trauma surfaces in present day relationships or experiences. Some overly generalized areas, but that's inevitable for something with such a wide audience. I do wish Walker would go more into trauma experience that is not rooted in family of origin--but maybe that'll have to be another book.
Your parents can be emotionally neglectful without being bad people, or not loving you. Read This Book.

Good, but it's definitely overwhelmingly influenced by the author's specific childhood traumas despite trying to be a guide for a wide range of traumatic origins. At times it was, rather jarringly, ableist and gender-essentialist (and definitely not intersectional). But there were enough things about this book that really struck a chord with me that I'm glad I picked it up.
