It is truly a crime that Stephanie Meyer never expanded on this universe. I’ve reread this book a few times now, and it continues to hold up for me. It was truly such a unique dystopian story at the time and continues to be such a unique story.

I absolutely looove a drama queen and there are several to be found here

If you've ever felt like you have conflicting voices in your head, this book will give you something to think about...I quite liked the imaginative premise and how the relationship between the two personalities was handled. However, I felt the other characters were a bit stereotypical and one-dimensional, and the romance was a bit heavy handed. But if the novel is written for younger adults, then that can be forgiven.

I really enjoyed this book!! I couldn't put it down it was so gripping!!

Wow this book made me so emotional and I just love the characters so much!!! So many feelings and in a less condensed version than Twilight, so that was a super pleasant surprise.

-Ian is the sweetest. Like I don't have fictional crushes but he warmed my heart.
-I hated Jared and just wanted him to go away. Sorry Melanie.
-I liked how Melanie and Wanderer befriended each other but I feel like it happened so fast. Maybe it's because her sense of time in the novel is unknown and we didn't get to see everything. I completely bought it though. Their struggle at the end made me so sad and happy.
-I loved how it was sci-fi but not sci-fi. Stephanie Meyer's world and how she explained the alien race was so interesting and refreshing to read about.
-I thought the "wow I've made so many friends and look there's that character" stuff was kind of pointless. I didn't care about anyone that wasn't Wanda, Melanie, Jamie, Ian, Kyle, Jeb, or Doc. I guess it's to build up the community vibe and I get that... I tended to fly over those parts so they'd be done quickly though.
-That scene where Kyle tries to kill Wanda!!! So good!!!! And then Ian comes to the rescue!!! Even better.
-I shouldn't have been surprised by the ending but I felt everything that Wanda was feeling - like it was her time to die but happy she got to stay there with Ian and everyone.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I listened to the audio book which is an entirely different experience, and I was hooked. Although, I did create an alternative ending that I thought would have been very interesting.

WAY better than Twilight, more grown up and it doesn't take forever for the story to take off. Interesting dilemma and progression of characters.

I’ve read this book multiple times and I’ll read it again, most likely. I wish this got more hype. Or at least a better movie. Is it perfect? No, and I’ll admit it’s flaws may have alienated (ha- alien) part of it’s audience. It’s dang long, too long for someone wanting to grab a quick cheesy romance, and it’s got too much cheesy romance for most people wanting a crazy long sci-fi about alien takeovers. That said- I loved it. I thought Wanderer was refreshing. I understand how her personality might irritate others (when I was younger, I first learned what the word ‘altruistic’ meant by reading this book). She has about zero survival skills and would trip in front of a rusty bed of nails if it would make somebody else happy. I thought it was endearing, though. I loved how devoted she was to Jamie, as a doting (mostly doting, anyways) older sister myself. I never craved Cheetos and weird bread so badly. The characters were interesting, with bright spots of nuance and humor. If the premise interests you, give it a try!
