much prefer this to the twilight series.

I enjoyed this book way more then I expected to!

This was my first Stephanie Meyer book, and I always heard a lot of hate about her books from people at school and that sort of stuff, so I went into this book not expecting too much. I wanted to read a book by her myself to know how it would be. The book I chose was obviously The Host (since this is a review for The Host), and it was a great choice!!! Stupid haters, I thought this book was awesome :D.

When I started reading this book I was just intrigued. The whole concept is super interesting and I enjoyed reading about Wanderer/Wanda taking possession of Melanie's mind in the beginning so much. Everything about the first part of the book I loved. Wanda and Melanie, to minds in one body and then going off to search. I love our main character Wanda. Also I love the whole alien-concept and all the worlds with life.

Later in the story there was a short moment were I felt that Melanie was a bit underdeveloped as a character, but that feeling didn't stay very long. I ended up really liking her too. Also I loved to read the bonus chapter from Melanie's point of view. She is cool!

The blurb on the back of the book was talking about one of the most unusual love triangles in literature. I disagree, triangle is not the right term. There are four people involved, not three. And it wasn't bothering me, like normally I don't enjoy things such as love triangles, but this was not like that. It wasn't even a real triangle to begin with, so yeah. I was however glad that this occurred later in the story when I was already enjoying the story and liking the main characters. It did at some fun and complicated feelings. ^^

I also enjoyed the ending of the story, well not like the cliffhanger ending at the end end (if you know what I mean), but how the main plot ended. That was satisfying. The cliffhangery-ending tho, I'm not sure how I feel about that just yet.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading the Host. A nice surprise actually. Don't let haters influence you. I loved the world/universe-building. The characters were great and I highly enjoyed the story. 4 out of 5 stars!

i loved it so much!! - Ian and Wanda <3

I was surprised to really like this book. I thought that it was a fascinating idea and she played it out well. Totally different than the Twilight series, except for the angst and longing in her love relationships.

I LOVED this book. This is saying a lot because I normally really dislike or at least am unimpressed by the new dystopia novels. Plus, Stefenie Meyer is definitely not my favorite author. I found her writing and the plot interesting but a little shallow, and I didn't really enjoy the style all that much.

In this book, I found the style improved, and the pot deep and unexpected. I loved the way that the characters developed, and the ending really was stunning. It is a bit mature, but mostly very tasteful. I was absolutely swept away, and I couldn't put it down for several days until I finished it. It is a little bit long, but I tore threw it in a few days because I enjoyed it so much.

I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of dystopia, Twilight, and modern literature in general. A great read.

When will we get book 2?!?!
