Stephenie Meyer

I LOVED THIS BOOK. I was iffy because of Stephenie Meyer but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. This is one of those reads where I would plan to read a few chapters before going to bed and the next thing I knew it was 4:00a.m. and I'd read half the book already. The character development is superb and the story line is unique. Can't wait for the movie!

smeyer i have grown quite fond of you away from twilight…
do i wish the mc ended up not being 17 at the end? duh
but i feel like that’s asking too much of smeyer. very cool concept i think the writing was mid but enjoyable. would easily have read a whole other book about the main cast

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. So many thoughts about the human condition and the pain/struggle of duality.

I know it's not cool to love Stephanie Meyer and we can hate on Twilight for it's many flaws but The Host is actually so beautiful and it should have been the book of hers that blew up. I have read it countless times as a teen and an adult and I still find its commentary on the value of flawed human life gorgeous and moving. I am still sad that it never got a sequel.

It seems that Meyer is one of those novelists that makes me bring her book with me everywhere I go to fit in a little reading time. I don't know what it is about her stories that make them so interesting, but she writes some serious page-turners.

Meyer claimed that this was an adult book, and though adults will surely enjoy it, I felt like her writing style in The Host was almost identical to that in the Twilight books. By no means was this a difficult read. Generally I find that novels that convey a big "lesson" can seem fake and pushy, so this book didn't interest me at first. Don't judge it though, until you have read it! :) It gets going fairly quickly.

3.5 stars. A very interesting and original sic-fi idea but I think the book could have been half as long. It seemed very dragged out and although I enjoyed most of the characters I didn't feel extremely tied to any of them.

I really like this book. I've been re-exploring my childhood & teenage favourites for the last year or so, and this is one I remembered LOVING. I'm glad it stood the test of time for me!
It has its moments of dialogue that aren't the best, but I think the worldbuilding and character growth are really solid, and I really enjoyed how the horrors and hopes of Wanderer were shown to us.
Nostalgia probably bumps my review up by a star but I'm going to let it.

Great book. Didn't want to put it down

One of my childhood favorites that I still thoroughly enjoy today (even with all the teen angst).
