Fascinating. Make sure to remember the limits of an affected narrator. A bit too non-linear for my taste but overall great.

This book is so well written that the waves of melancholy were worth it. The child abuse instances made my skin crawl. It was gut wrenching and beautiful, very hard to put down. Wanna cry and get the heebie jeebies? This is the book for you.

"And if it takes forever?"
"Then it does."

Just for that exchange I give the book another star.

Definitely a heart wrenching book about survival. But some parts seemed too surface level, it left me wanting more detail on every chapter, every sibling, especially Ethan

Dark tale of the aftermath of children held prisoner by their parents- told particularly from the POV of Girl A - the pseudonym for the oldest girl survivor.
