Liked the premise but the romance felt rushed, with the focus being the small town mystery they were solving. Was very hard to get engaged and finally gave up. Maybe I’ll finish as an audiobook at work.
UPDATE: finished it when I needed something easy to listen to while working. Couple got together in the first quarter, rest of the book was about solving the trafficking case. The faking of his death was not believable and unnecessarily drawn out. Also the men in the book have misogynistic undertones. When romance was brought back into the plot it was always cheesy and over the top.

Tropes: second chance romance; friends to lovers; military romance; feisty FMC; law enforcement MMC; romantic suspense

Corinne Michaels’s Give Me Love takes her readers back to Rose Canyon, the setting for her book, Help Me Remember. It follows one of the four friends of this series, Emmett, the town sheriff. The story begins where Help Me Remember left off with Emmett’s surprise marriage to his friend, Blakely. From there, Blakely and Emmett struggle to find their bearing as Emmett wants Blakely to finally agree to a divorce while Blakely works through feelings she wants to deny. Give Me Love is a cat-and-mouse chase between two people destined to love each other when one of them fears it. Will Emmett win Blakely over? Give Me Love ends in a HEA, so I’ll let you decide.

For me, Michaels’s newest Rose Canyon story’s highlight is the rollercoaster journey of Blakely and Emmett. It’s Emmett’s patience in the face of Blakely’s fear. It’s Emmett’s attraction to Blakely and his willingness to act upon it that finally helps her overcome her worry. It’s his dedication to Blakely that makes this aspect of Give Me Love the best part of the book. For me, Emmett wins over Michaels’s readers in contrast to Blakely’s stubbornness in admitting her feelings for him. This is what won me over to this story.

My frustration with Give Me Love is its storyline. There is a pacing issue here, one that detracts from the book. Additionally, uneven characterizations confuse and create a consistency issue for both Emmett and Blakely. In moments, when I should have felt emotionally connected to Michaels’s characters, I wasn’t, and that’s a problem for this reader.

As far as continuing the overarching story of the Rose Canyon series, Give Me Love continues it, and I’m intrigued by and ready for Holden’s story, teased at the end of this book.

Corinne does it again! This book was a heart pounding, anxiety inducing, romantic suspense with plenty of heat thrown in!

Blakely and Emmett had several things to work out and most involved them working on their communication and being willing to open themselves up to a future together. This takes a turn when some investigations that Blakely is working on comes up with danger closer to home then they realized.

I loved this book. It was sweet, suspensful and adorable. Emmett and Blakely are amazing together once they let themselves drop their shields. The climax of the book was intense and kindle throwing worthy. (No Kindles were harmed in the reading of this book).

While the immediate plot is wrapped up, this is an overarching storyline that has some strings left that I cannot wait to read about in the next book!

Cocktails and Books received this book for free from Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review. This was classified as a fake marriage romance, but I have to say I totally didn't see Blakely and Emmett that way.  They may have gotten married for all the wrong reasons, but they really did love each other and somehow couldn't find a way to get those 3 little magic words to come out of their mouths.  But, if they had said those, we wouldn't have gotten Give Me Love.

This book picks up where Help Me Remember left off with Blakely coming into town and everyone realizing Emmett was married.  Blakely came to town trying to solve a missing person case that was tied to bad guy Bill who had gone after Brielle.  Unbeknownst to Rose Canyon, they have a big issue on their hands.  Emmett and Blakely try to navigate the pitfalls of their fake/not really fake relationship while dealing with the continued fallout from what went down with Isaac and Brie.

I like Emmett and Blakely.  Their banter was fantastic and it was very obvious that these two needed to deal with their very large feelings for one another rather than continue to shove them in the proverbial closet.  Once they admitted what they had been scared to say, everything fell very quickly into place for them, as a couple at least.  But Ms. Michaels couldn't let them off the hook that easily so the bad guys came knocking which also revealed the struggle these two ex-military people were going to have.  Emmett needed to remember that Blakely was a badass and didn't need to be saved, she just needed to be trusted like any other member of a well-oiled machine.

The story was enjoyable, even if I was able to figure out where the arc of the story was going pretty quickly (and didn't tug on the heartstring quite the way I thought it might).  The epilogue has me waiting with bated breath for what exactly happened in Vegas at Issac's bachelor party.

Another amazing book in the Rose Canyon series by Corinne Michaels!

I wasn‘t sure if I could ship Emmett and Blakely since I was shipping him so hard with Abby, but Corinne proved me wrong and made me love Blake. Blake seriously is an amazing character. She‘s super fierce and strong.
I really enjoyed their story! It was super suspensful, thrilling and very spicy. Emmett and Blake are soulmates and they‘ve been through so much, which you can clearly see in this book.

The Rose Canyon series continues to be such a solid series-- this one centering around Emmett and his wife Blakely. It picks up exactly where the first leaves, and it has far more suspense (which I loved). Emmett and Blakely's dynamic and chemistry is perfection, and I particularly enjoyed how Blakely doesn't take orders from anyone! I can't wait to continue this series-- it has such a perfect balance of romance and suspense, and the combination of these two genres is quickly becoming a favorite!

Book two of the Rose Canyon series picks up right where the first leaves off but follows Emmett Maxwell, the town sheriff, and Blakey Bennett, the wife no one knew about. It turns out the two had a marriage of convenience when they were both in the army and were inseparable until they slept together and Blakey ran away scared of what she may lose. It’s been two and half years since then when Blakey shows up at Rose Canyon connecting a case she’s working on to the town. Of course, Emmett is still hurt from their last encounter and is pressing for a divorce, but still loves Blakey and wants to support her. Meanwhile, Blakey has a second agenda while there, not only wanting to solve the case but also prove to Emmett how sorry she is for the mistakes she made.

I blew through this book! I honestly didn’t think it was possible for Give me Love to have more suspense than Help Me Remember but the story was filled with nonstop action that made me feel all the emotions. Literally at one point I had to flip to the end of the book to make sure there was a happy ever after because I was so nervous. I loved seeing all the characters from book one and how the two stories were interwoven. Plus, the ending sets the stage up perfectly for Holden’s book.

Read if you like:
-Romantic suspense
-Small town romance
-Marriage of convenience
-Second chances

It’s no surprise that this book was truly special and I can’t wait for more. This will take you on such an emotional journey. I highly recommend it, it’s worth reading, everything by Corinne Michaels is. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Blakey comes back to town and takes Emmett by surprise. This book is so full of suspense, love and tears. It will pull your heart strings, and make you laugh. Emmett had filed for divorce from Blake, but she burned the papers. This takes you on there journey through Blake’s fear to love anyone but she refuses to let Emmett go. Blake also came back because she is a PI and a missing girls case leads her to Rose Canyon. She just didn’t know how serious the case was or where it would lead them. She didn’t expect it to lead to her being in protective custody with our favorite Cole Security boys Liam and Quinn.

If you haven’t read Corinne Michaels Salvation Series, I recommend you do. That’s where Cole Security comes in, those books are amazing.
