I don't know what it was, I just couldn't follow along with this one. I liked Dan, I liked the story as a whole, just seemed all over the place.
This series isn't that great in my opinion. But that's just me. I realized recently that I just don't like James Patterson and his writing style, but I still listen to the Audiobooks at work because... they're very breezy and not the worst, just not very good.
This is the second book in a series, but it's completely independant of the first book. It also seems to be completely independant of "Private Games" which is also set in London, but has only a few recurring characters so far.
The book is about a kidnapping and a series of murders that seem like they may all be related.
For what it is, it's not bad, but it's relatively cookie cutter. It's my main problem with the book is that it's just... it's just a thriller that doesn't have a big hook to it. It's like an episode of Law and Order, there's a crime, it's investigated and the killer or kidnapper or bomber just kind of shows up.
I guess I prefer the type of mystery where the killer is one of the tertiary characters and you have a chance to figure it out. Like something you'd see in Poirot. But here it seems that the killers, bombers, kidnappers, pranksters, and other various criminal types just kind of meander into the middle of the story. It's less like Poirot, and more like Scooby-Doo. Don't get me wrong, I loves me some Scooby-Doo. I also loves me some bad grammar. But if I'm reading a book for adults I don't want to read Scooby-Doo.
That being said, I'm currently reading [b:Private Games|12112683|Private Games (Private, #3)|James Patterson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344269024s/12112683.jpg|16272568] and it just had a weird twist right at the start announcing the deaths of many members of Private London, none of whom I recognized as being in this book. Which is a weird way to start a book.

Eh..... did it as an audiobook to pass time in the car. The first half was better then the second. I'll do another "Private" book tho. Fun characters. Fun organization. I was entertained and it was not so gruesome..... The Alex Cross books have just become too much.
Interesting story but too many characters and storylines. I had trouble keeping them all straight.

This book was a bit too ADD for my taste. It got to the point where there were so many characters and story lines, I started to lose interest. I also disliked the use of Imperial units in a book set in a metric country.
