I see why people tell you to try to keep reading without any spoilers. I almost DNF and I don't think I would have regretted it if I didn't push through. However SO MANY people had reviews that just said to keep going so I decided to try. It was fine. I see why people enjoy it and I think the story is a very interesting concept. It was just a rough path to get there for the reader. The beginning of the book did not interest me at all. I did not care for any of the characters or the story ine. Woopy doo he's back from school but it takes SO LONG to get actually some where interesting. Even then, I didn't find the plot itself exciting enough to really hook me as a reader. The writing of the different characters was well done so I have to give it that.
This was a solid 2.5 for me. And it was very close to a DNF. baby spoiler ahead

if you are struggling to read the book I would recommend reading until the dinner party and then deciding from there
Wow. I don’t think I can review this book without spoiling it. So I will say to please trust the author and the other reviewers and go in blind - if you can do that. This was a wild one. Trigger warning for sexual/physical abuse and violence. There is a warning at the beginning of the book, so please proceed with caution.
My second book from K. Webster. Won’t be my last. Her writing is fantastic and flows seamlessly.

This is one of those books where if I tell you anything, I will give the whole book away. I just can't talk about it...
What I can tell you is what I felt while reading these books. I experienced an abundance of emotions throughout this book.
There was a lot of confusion in the beginning. I couldn't quite piece together who was who, with the exception of Kady, Yeo and a few family members. Things were all over the place and my anxiety was building.
While the tension was swirling, I found myself cringing at certain parts. There were situations that I can't do with books; there were some that made me almost put the book down. However, I kept pushing through, gritting my teeth from time to time.
Relief, sorrow, happiness and WTF moments were abundant in this book. At one point, when things clicked and fell into place, I wanted to slap myself for not seeing it. For not seeing the signs. The only way I can explain it is how I have felt with some of Aleatha Romig's books. The clues are there, you just don't pick them up until things happen to pull it all together.
In a nutshell, this is one of my favorites of the year. It's a must read for those who are not hyper-sensitive to questionable and darker situations. It's a must read for those who love shock and awe (and again, not hyper-sensitive). This is in no way light and fluffy... NOT AT ALL!

"I love you at your best and I love you at your worst. I love every single part of you. I always have and always will. I even love the parts I hate about you..."
Whispers and the Roars may just be my favorite K. Webster book. This is one where you can't think ahead, you have to stay in the moment with the author as she weaves her tale. You as a reader, have to give all of your trust over to the author for the outcome to make sense. Webster takes that trust and takes you on a heartbreaking amazing journey.
I loved everything about this read. I wish there were more of these type of books out there. Not only couldn't I put it down but I learned something along the way!
I read and reviewed my personal copy for Wicked Reads.

This book was amazing! It is not for everyone and before diving in make sure you read the content warnings and take them to heart. Words cannot even express how emotional, amazing, surprising, and horrifying this book was. The ending was beyond satisfying and I have never said "wtf?!" as much as I did reading this book. Highly recommend.
