Take my advice: dive in.
Dark. Gritty. Emotional.
And a plot that will have you captivated.

Going into this I had no idea what it was about. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters so I was kind of detached. I felt terrible for everything the heroine was going through and it was hard to read some of her memories. I’m glad Yeo was supportive. But yeah, that’s pretty much it.

Shock and awe and then more shock. Not my genre, but totally worth it. Quick, but heavy.

Figured out the twist pretty early on.
Enjoyed it but it felt like the author  only scratched the surface. It wasn't very fleshed out and felt rushed.

You remember that one commercial with that Beck guy (I can't remember his last name right now, so sue me) from Saturday Night Live and he's talking to a group of kids in a classroom about insurance or phones or wireless internet - whatever - and one of the little people asks him a question and he puts his hands up by his head and makes an explosion sound and says, "Mind blown!" Yeah, you remember that? Well, that is exactly what K. Webster did to my mind with this book - she utterly, completely, and totally blew my mind! I never saw it coming and I was just stunned. Whispers and the Roars was truly magnificent and it is without a doubt one of the best books I've read all year!

Kady, Kady, Kady. I wasn't quite sure what to make of her at first and I didn't think she was the strongest heroine I've ever read about, but I still liked her. The more I got to know her though, the more she grew on me. Kady isn't the strongest in the beginning and if you like them strong, then I just want to say give Kady a chance - don't write her off because she will surprise you, she really is strong, and I did love her when all was said and done.

And you couldn't question my love for Yeo. That man is incredible - truly he is! He's kind, compassionate, patient, thoughtful, and protective. Yeo is unflinchingly loyal, unquestionably devoted, and wholeheartedly in love with Kady. I can't tell you how amazing Yeo is here for more than one reason, but I'll just give you the main and that's because I can't do him the justice he deserves. I know you'll love Yeo though - he's impossible not to love!

I don't want to give anything away, so I'm going to keep this part short and sweet. Bottom line - Whispers and the Roars was unexpected, surprising, and unlike anything I've read before. It was fascinating, intriguing, and full of heartache, twists and turns, beauty, and warmth. It was an extraordinary book, this book, and I loved it - simple as that - even though my feelings are a lot more complex than that.

Whispers and the Roars is a standalone, it's told from Kady and Yeo's POV, and they do get their happy ending.
