I may be one of the few - but I figured out the twist pretty early on. I think this does really change the experience of the book. If I didn't figure it out, this book would probably be a four or five star. But once it clicked I think all the big twists and tensions were lack luster. I do not blame the author for it, but just make sure you don't spoil it for yourself.

Mind blowing read! So many what ifs, so many thoughts ran though my head the whole time reading, kept me on my toes and kept making me want to skip ahead so I could find the secret! DONT DO IT! So worth the wait!!!
Check your tw and do not go in thinking you’ll be all okay. Make sure you are mentally able to handle anything that is thrown at you.

This book had an interesting twist, annnddd that’s about where the pros of this book start and end for me. My biggest gripe is that the characters are HIGHLY underdeveloped except for Bones. Yeo is desperately in love with Kady but I have no clue why, it feels like a power imbalance. Kady seems like a child and has no personality outside of her trauma, she was so underdeveloped and childlike it was awkward reading about her in adult situations. Also, Yeo is this absolutely perfect guy with seemingly no faults, and is obsessed with taking care of Kady (but again, WHY does he love her so much????). Unfortunately this was not the book for me.

The other reviews said it best - dive into this book blind. There is no way you could ever anticipate how this story will turn. It's definitely one of those that you will want to reread once you learn the truths. I don't even know what else to say but wow what a story!

What a dark, twisted, and beautiful story, all at once. I'll admit that I constantly read reviews and spoilers ahead of time, as much as the people around me hate it! But for this one, I listened to the author and other reviewers who said this was best going in blind.

I'm glad I did. How I felt I was being pulled in all different directions over the course of this story, and there were a couple of events that made me raise my eyebrows. Those that read it know what I'm talking about. But then, a little past the halfway point, the story takes a sharp turn in another direction, and suddenly, everything falls into place. So to those who are doubtful about continuing past the 50% mark, I highly recommend that you do. The supporting characters are all interesting in their own way, and even more so when you find out who they really are.

To top it all off, this is truly a story of unconditional love between our FMC and MMC. How many of us wish we could find a partner like that! The FMC has gone through a lot, and there are flashbacks that depict the horrors she underwent in her childhood. It's easy to feel sad for her, and understand why she's so disturbed. But, there is a satisfying ending, to boot, and I smiled when I read the last sentence. Not totally biased but I did like that the male love interest was Asian (or half-Asian).

Lovely prose that keeps you interested. The book is told in first person, from the POV of the MMC, FMC, and one of the supporting characters, later on.

Four stars because some of the events were a little hard to believe and unrealistic. The MMC was a little too perfect, almost to the point where he didn't seem human. A lot of supporting characters but many of them were not well-developed at all.

The love scenes are well done and sexy. There is a scene or two of child abuse and rape, so just be aware of this going on.

Other than that, I enjoyed this read, very much, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, dark, twisted, and ultimately hopeful love story.

What. A. Book!!! Read it!!!

Borrow

Overview:
I found this book very hard to review. At the beginning I thought about putting it down and shelving it as DNF. I didn’t understand what was happening and I was slightly bored.

Then I got to the middle where the big reveal was, and it started to tie together and was really good. Then I got to the end and I was slightly disappointed because it wasn’t believable to me.

So- I’m very conflicted on how I should rate, and feel that a 3 star rating out of 5 stars is fair. Although I really wanted to give it 4 stars, the issues I had with the “bread”’of the book kept it from getting that extra star. But I acknowledge that is has the potential to vary from reader to reader.

I do however still recommend going into this blind, and not trying to figure out the twist as it makes it more enjoyable. With that being said- I figured out what was happening within the first 50 pages or so as it was obvious to me, but may not be as noticeable to other readers.

Just keep reading even if you feel like you’re missing something, wait- and you will understand!

I feel like the character of Kady was not fleshed out very well compared to other characters such as Yeo and Bones. There was so much ground work put into every character but her, which is sad since ultimately she’s what the book is about. I saw no reason for Yeo to have such an interest in her.
