This book is a hard book to rate. Its very dark, and very heavy... but also educational and interesting? You have to go into this book completely blind... and also open minded. It's an easy book to read, but you will feel a little disoriented at times at the beginning.... but in a good way. I was so invested through out this whole story and couldn't stop thinking about it when I was done. When I wasn't reading it.... I was thinking about reading it.

I figured out the twist really early... at about 35%... I knew exactly what the author was doing... and that may have helped my reading experience because I caught on quick. I don't know how this book would be if I didn't get the twist until it was revealed. I think I would start to wonder what the point of the book was. BUT it is very worth it either way.... I think she chose a very interesting way of writing this and I loved all the characters.

I almost took one star away because this book was trying to be a romance but it shouldn't have been. This dealt with themes that were too dark, and unnerving, so whenever smut came around, it was more uncomfortable than anything else. It was a fine romance with a very heroic love interest, but the smut felt very displaced and sort of tone deaf in a weird way. This shouldn't have tried to be a romance.... let alone a smutty romance. Fade to black would have been perfectly fine for this book.

Just know before going into this... there are parts that aren't easy to read. Major trigger warning for graphic childhood sexual abuse and trauma.

Nope nope nope.

Not for me.

Finished it. Not for me. Not at all.

Wow, just a big ole wow. I highly recommend going into this book without any clue what it’s about. Enjoy the wild, twisty, turning ride.. it’s bananas and I didn’t see it coming.

This book has a super unique premise that I really enjoyed. I agree with all of the recommendations that you should go in blind! Im also going to be as vague as possible here as to not spoil anything.

I am fairly familiar with the subject matter so I figured out what was happening really early and I wasn’t as shocked by it as some readers but I think I’m probably the exception.

I would recommend this book for the uniqueness of the premise alone, but I also connected to the characters and enjoyed the story a ton. The author also threw in something at the end that made my heart happy after a bit of a bittersweet ending for me! (Don’t worry, we do get an HEA)

Don’t forget to read trigger warnings or at least prepare yourself before going into this one.

This was something I do not usually read, but I am glad I did. Full review to come.

I was skeptical when people said to go in blind. But I am so glad I did.
This book shook 6 ways from Sunday and I may have to compartmentalize it just to get on with my life.

5 "ROARING" stars!!!

Whispers and the Roars was a complex, intense--yet beautifully written story about dealing with the darkest of times and loving someone through them.

“I love her. Plain and simple. You can’t snuff out the blazing flames of love. Soulmates don’t simply drift apart. Twelve years has done nothing to change the way I feel about her. The time with us separated is over. No more hiding. No more avoidance. No more denying our complicated relationship. I’m going to make this right again.”

Going into this story blind is the best advice I can give you. Go in blind. Keep your mind and heart open to everything these beautiful characters go through. It will be a hard read at times. The situations these characters go through are not for the faint of heart, but take a step back--regroup your emotions and continue. You won't be disappointed.

"Yeo and I make fire. We ignite into a brilliant, blazing inferno whenever we’re near one another."

This story brought out SO many emotions. There were times I had tears streaming down my face as my heart ached for the main characters, Kady and Yeo. Kady is such a strong, complex character, and my heart broke for her. Yeo is THE definition of unconditional love. I rooted for them the entire time.

"My heart roars with happiness. And my mind whispers. Everything will be okay now."

If you’re looking for an emotional, thought provoking, and unconventional love story, then Whispers and the Roars is one that needs to be experienced. It's a story that will forever stick with me.

Many people overhyped this one in my opinion. Not my cup of tea. Well written in parts overall.
