This is my first K. Webster book, and I loved it!

Let me start off by saying that if you're going to read this book, I suggest you read the blurb and then go in completely blind. There's hardly a way to review it and not give something away, so if you start reading a bunch of reviews and looking at how other readers have shelved it, it's inevitable that you'll learn something that's much better discovered while reading. If you want to know if people liked it, just look at the star ratings, and then read it!

Generally speaking, I'll add that the book wasn't nearly as dark as I imagined it would be (although there are dark elements, for sure), the 'concept' was very unique and I thought it was written about brilliantly--this was a buddy read, and we had a ball trying to figure it out without giving away any spoilers. Also, I loved all the characters, especially Kady, Yeo, Agatha, and Bones, I loved the romance (and the hotness), and I loved this so much that I'm going straight to another K. Webster book!

Wow

Can I give this book a million stars? Because geez... This was an amazing book. Gotta be honest, at the beginning I thought, "ok, this is kind of a slow start". I typically don't like slow burn books. But this book Kicked into gear right when I needed it to. And OMG... It blew me away. I actually went back and reread the first half of the book because I felt like I had so much to catch up on lol. Anyway... Read this book right now!!!

WHAT a ride!!! I absolutely agree with the author and the advice of all others who’ve come before me. Go into this book blind, it will help you be free of any preconceived ideas and man will it be so worth it. This is most definitely a plot with spice book. KW was able to BEAUTIFULLY put into words a character, Yeo, that was beyond loyal, faithful, dedicated and supportive like I’ve rarely seen in other stories. The main character Kady is unlike any other character I have ever read, and sadly probably won’t see again, in any other stories. This is a unique take on love, devotion, dedication, self destruction, and self discovery. Go in blind, you’ll be glad you did!

Wow. Speechless. Utterly speechless. I have never been so blown away by a book before. I was just on so much shock. Go into this one blind like I did. And know you'll just be stunned. Wow. AMAZING! These characters were everything! Definitely check TWs.

Recommendation:
Borrow it.

Would you read another book by this author?
This marks my third book by this author, and I was hooked from the very beginning. I can’t wait to dive into her entire body of work!

Who might enjoy this book?
This book is perfect for those who enjoy psychological narratives that keep you guessing and challenge your perceptions.

Overview:
Reviewing this book proved to be quite a challenge. Initially, I found myself contemplating putting it down and marking it as a “did not finish” (DNF). The beginning felt disjointed, leaving me unsure about the direction of the story, and I found myself feeling slightly bored.

However, everything changed when I reached the middle, where the major reveal occurred. Suddenly, the pieces began to fall into place, and I was captivated by the unfolding plot. Unfortunately, the ending left me feeling a bit disappointed, as it didn’t quite land with the believability I was hoping for.

This conflicting experience makes it difficult to determine an appropriate rating. I settled on a 3-star rating out of 5, which I feel is fair given my mixed feelings. While I wanted to give it 4 stars for its strong middle section, the issues I encountered with the pacing and structure prevented it from earning that extra star. However, I recognize that individual experiences may vary widely among readers.

I do recommend going into this story blind, as trying to predict the twist can detract from the enjoyment. Interestingly, I figured out the main twist within the first 50 pages, as it felt fairly obvious to me; however, others may not find it as transparent.

If you find yourself feeling lost or confused at the start, I encourage you to keep reading. Patience will reward you, as the narrative eventually comes together in a satisfying way.

One aspect that left me wanting was the character development of Kady. Compared to supporting characters like Yeo and Bones, Kady felt underdeveloped. It was unfortunate, considering she is central to the story. I struggled to understand Yeo’s intense interest in her, as there seemed to be a lack of depth in their connection.

No star rating because of the topic of this book, but it was hella messed up and I liked it.

Heartbreaking, but a bit over the top.
Sad in a „A Little Life“ kind of way.

And I love you too, Bones
