I was impressed with this biography. This is not a genre I read much, but I was hooked on Ms. Pat story from page 1! The book is very well written (kudos to the Jeannine Amber for putting the story together in such an original way!), and the story itself is pretty interesting. Together, they managed to create suspense in a way that I couldn't put down the book, because I always wanted to know what happened between one chapter and the next one.
Her story is so interesting, and the book is a tale of how she managed to escape from the life on the "hood" and become a comic.

Initial thoughts: Every time she mentioned her age (at any point in this book) I was like damn. She did all that/has been through all that and she wasn’t even 16.. 17… 20..?

This book made me want to cry and laugh at the same time. I absolutely can’t wrap my head around the childhood she endured. And even more so, can’t believe she ever got out of it. What a fantastic story!

This was not the best written book but I certainly gained a different perspective. Also, wow, the money in the drug trade!

Loved this memoir, it had a really strong voice and was funny in the midst of describing a vast amount of poverty and hardship.
