Read this last night. The drawings are amazing. Karen did a very nice job describing the Fever world in the books. This representation was very much what I imagined myself.

The story was compelling but I was a bit confused with when it takes place within the confines of the Fever series. Barrons and Mac are still in the love/hate/irritate each other stage. V'Lane isn't around but he is talked about.

Great story. Great images. I will enjoy revisiting Mac and Barrons more frequently with this book.

Yay! A Fever Series comic! Four whole chapters of Barrons and Mac! This was really good in a series / world that I love. The report between Mac and BArrons was every bit as awesome as I remember it. One of my favorite parts was when Mac got back to BB&B at the end and she was like, 'I love Barrons'. And then as an afterthought 'Book and Baubles'. It made me smile. And the fact that the moment Barrons knew how much Mac wanted something he was there, willing to help and even kill for her. Yep. Love me some Barrons and Mac. I hope KMM does more of these little stories.

I didn't know what to expect. I loved revisiting Barrons and Mac and the Fever World. The artwork is fantastic. I was worried about reading the graphic novel because we all have our own ideas as to how the characters look. Barrons doesn't look how I pictured him. He kinda reminds of Steven Seagal. Ewww. And he has a mullet! I expected Barrons to look more neat and put together. But Inspector Jayne is sexay! I pictured him as an older, pot-bellied fellow. So glad I got that wrong. Mac was drawn very curvy and sexy. She looked like a Playboy Playmate. I kinda wish this wasn't hardcover as it made it a little difficult to read the dialog that was close to the spine. The graphic novel needed to be broken in a little while reading it.

The overall plot was nothing spectacular. We met the Fear Dorcha in Shadowfever so nothing in Fever Moon is new if you've already read Shadowfever. It's the usual Barrons and Mac banter with bitchy Rowena thrown into the mix. Now that I see how sexy Inspector Jayne is, I hope to see more of him in the spin-off series.

All in all, it Fever Moon was okay. It took less than an hour to read. It was entertaining but not what I expected. If she publishes another graphic novel, I don't know if I'll buy it. I'm not a graphic novel person so maybe I can't appreciate it like a true aficionado. I bought Fever Moon because I love this series and KMM and needed a Barrons fix. It's a pretty book to add to my bookshelf.

Very low four. I gobbled the Fever series last year when I found one on accident. I wouldn't say I'm a true fan though, as I quit after Iced.

That being said, I grabbed this on sale cause I'm a huge graphic novel fan. The story was okay, some of it a rehash of the series, but thats okay. What I really enjoyed was the big bad, the Fear Rocha. He's a pretty interesting baddie. Although, the way she beat him was a bit too easy.

Also, like other readers, I'm not a huge fan of the illustrations. Super cliche.

I have never read anything in the fever series, so the whole "racy" part shocked me a little. The story was interesting and the characters seemed to be well rounded. Mackayla has that whole trying to be a good person while being a bad ass persona going on. The illustrations were amazing, with the details and colors just popping for me. I loved the Fear Dorcha and the cane it used.

As a graphic novel produced by an already established Urban Fantasy author, I think it's worth providing a reviewer disclaimer: I'm not too familiar with the Fever series, and this graphic novel was my first foray into this authors work.

First impressions?

Boobs.

Apologies for being crude, but I challenge anyone to pick up this piece and not at least consider whether the protagonist suffered back problems.

OK now thats out of the way, in terms of the 'graphic' part of Fevermoon the artwork was pretty badass, the dark and magical world is well conveyed in ink, and some of the supernatural stuff looked awesome. In the same breath some of the pages felt a little 'posed' and I could have sworn cut and paste was used to for some of the minor characters.

The 'novel' part fared a little worse in my assessment. While the bad-guy was unique and scary, the plot consisted largely of name and concept dropping between the main character driving around in nice sports cars until she confronted the antagonist. I don't want to be too spoilerly, but Moning's attempt to rev the tension up, and how the baddie was ultimately defeated fell a little flat for me.

So in all, a great escapist hour or two, but I'm unlikely to bring Fevermoon up in a conversation about the best graphic novels ever.

Would've finished sooner, but I took time to stare at all the pretty details. DEG's lack of reflection, the Celtic cuffs, the red tatts/runes on Barrons. Barrons. Barrons some more. The little tribute to Al Rio at the end. Only had one major issue with the story, which involved the pieces the Fear Dorcha took from the Mom in the beginning, one of which she had back when Mac was putting the pieces together. The rest I can sort of overlook. Oh, and no V'lane. Boo! Beautiful artwork. Didn't recognize Dani at first. Thought she looked way too old. Bad, unintentional pun up there. Sorry. Loved seeing the Fever characters in the (2 dimensional) flesh. I hope KMM considers other one.

Like 99.9% of people who purchased this, I am a complete addict of KMM's Fever series: the world, the characters, the story. Does Fever Moon scratch that itch? For a moment, and not with a lot of satisfaction.

First of all, the art is your standard Comics 101: sex kitteny women written for the male gaze, mega 'roided men with laughable physiques, and monsters who clearly had more love and affection poured into their creation than anything in the book that's human. It was impossible for me to get past that and diminished a bit of my love for Mac (who here contorts into impossible positions in order to lovingly feature her heaving bosom, glossy parted lips, and wide-eyed CFM gaze - ugh).

Related to the above, there are inconsistencies in this universe vs the books. I'd read them and have a "yeah right" snort...the one I'm remembering right now is Mac sleeping in a filmy/flimsy negligee on a couch in BB&B, which she wears to answer the door of the store in the middle of the night. Come on. Also, descriptions of V2 Barrons and the Hunters were seriously off.

There are a couple of genuinely great things. The writing, of course. Putting the writing to panels of illustrations made me smile...seeing scenes play out, how the players react, etc. Cute. And it was better than nothing. So.

Fever Moon: Better Than Nothing.
