One of the things I love most about romance novels, no matter the genre, is that they all point out that honesty and communication are key in a relationship. Ryder and Josie point this out in a humorous and sexy way. The chemistry is there but secrets keep them apart. What a Werewolf Wants is a fun read that can be read standalone.

An opposites attract fated mates novel with an element of irony.
Spoiler
~ Does the San Francisco Pack have therapists? Cuz Ryder needs one. He's dealing with a boatload of trauma from being turned, getting cheated on and dumped, and working as an infidelity P.I. on top of some childhood trauma. Get the boy a therapist.
~ Josie is pretty cool, she's a lot more sure of herself and her wants, even if she is a bit idealistic. I like the fact that she can almost magically tell when she touches papers that they've touched.
~ Got really tired of Ryder trying to deny his feelings for Josie and convince himself that she was a bad idea, even knowing about his trauma. I don't know, it felt a little like he was perfectly okay with it until she learned he was a werewolf and then he ran the other way. It just felt a little jarring. Maybe I just wish this element had been handled differently.
~ I feel weird that Ryder got sick after he denied his fated bond. I have a love/hate relationship with fated mates at the best of times and them not having a choice once they meet their fated mate rubs me the wrong way.

Overall, cute shifter romance that hit the spot. Probably wouldn't read again, but maybe recommend.

I gave it 3.5/5 stars

Kristin Miller is a great storyteller and I have really enjoyed her werewolf books. WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS is part of her San Francisco Wolf Pack series and I enjoyed getting to know the new couple.

Josie is a very successful matchmaker and her sister marrying her match brings her successful matching spree up to 100. She really wants everything to go smoothly to land a television special, but the grooms best friend is hell bent on throwing a wrench in her plans. To make matters worse, she is extremely attracted to him and can't seem to get him out of her head. Ryder is a werewolf and is a bit broken when it comes to falling in love. The attraction between him and Josie is pretty intense, but he doubts himself and her ability to love him for who he is so he pushes her away a lot and that becomes a bit frustrating after a while. When the truth comes out about him being a werewolf both Josie and Ryder have some things that need to be worked out.

One thing I really wish this series would do is incorporate the characters from the previous books. All the characters are a part of the San Francisco Pack, but we never see them after their book is over. I really love updates and it makes me sad not knowing how they are doing. It just doesn't feel like a pack to me.

WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS was a cute story and I was able to read it pretty fast. I think there could have been more detail involved in the storyline and the characters. I am really hoping that Josie's gift comes up in future books and is able to bring the pack together into one book like I have been wanting. This has been a cute series so far and if your looking for something light, it might just be the series for you.

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2016/01/review-what-werewolf-wants-by-kristin.html

Sparks fly – literally – when a werewolf who doesn’t believe in happily ever after meets his fated mate in What a Werewolf Wants. Kristin Miller’s third San Francisco Wolf Pack story has a sexy werewolf hero, a hopeless romantic for a heroine, a dash of humor, and the hope that true love will conquer all – how can you resist?

Josie is a vivacious heroine who is easy to adore. She’s a smart businesswoman with an almost supernatural gift for matching people together. Her success at doing so only solidifies her belief in true love, which is why she’s shocked that the best man at her sister’s wedding wants to keep his best friend from reaching the altar. Ryder doesn’t believe most people are meant to be together forever, especially not werewolves like himself and his best friend who can live for a thousand years with one mate. Ryder’s cynicism makes sense, given that he’s a private investigator who specializes in infidelity. Having been burned by love himself, there’s no way he’ll take a chance on revealing his whole self – paws and all – to a woman who might see him as nothing more than a monster.

Ryder and Josie’s clash of wills set the stage for a battle we know Ryder will lose. Because Josie is his Luminary, or fated mate, she gets under his skin like no other. Their mutual attraction steams up the pages of What a Werewolf Wants and both Josie and Ryder begin to see that what they thought they wanted for themselves pales in comparison to what they could have together. It’s easy to become invested in not only their romance, but that of Carrie and Mitch, the bride and groom whose wedding starts as a bone of contention between Josie and Ryder. The two couples are each endearing in their own way and I was rooting for everyone to get their happily ever after.

What a Werewolf Wants is the third book in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series, but as I have not yet read The Werewolf Wears Prada or Beauty and the Werewolf I can safely say that Josie and Ryder’s story can be read as a standalone. I was incredibly intrigued by Ms. Miller’s werewolves and the structure of their world, and I’m eager to learn more. I adored What a Werewolf Wants and I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the San Francisco Wolf Pack books.

What a Werewolf Wants begins with Josie doing her best to make her sister's wedding perfect! Not only will this be her 100th couple to have matched together and they got married, but it is going to all be on filmed. But when Ryder, the groom's best friend, decides to come and make the groom and bride break up because he doesn't believe in marriage, Josie will do everything in her power to save her sister's happiness.
However, Ryder and Josie can't seem to stay away from each other and their attraction grows stronger each time they are near each other.

This book was okay. It had a pretty interesting story to it, but I just felt frustrated with the main characters through out most of the book. Other than that it was a very nice read. It had werewolves and a crazy matchmaker lady!
