Meh....it's a decent thriller but didn't really captivate me nor hold my attention. While the story itself was intriguing, there were too many shifts from different timelines and different characters that made it confusing. I think the setting itself, Y2K Blockbuster movie store, really had me interested but soon fell short of my expectations. My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a galley of this book for review.

Well written thriller, good pacing, interesting characters. Does what it sets it to do very well, only reason it's not a five is because there's nothing earth shattering in what it's trying to do

3.8

I was back and forth whether this book was a three or four it started off strong as a four with a murder that hooked me in right away got a little boring in the middle so I was like me it’s a three in the end about the last 50 to 20 pages we’re very exciting which bump the score back up.

There were lots of characters in this book and told from several perspectives and just plain narrated which got kind of confusing with reading it.

Spoiler ending and summery: a bunch of teens were murdered at a blockbuster in the 90s leaving one survivor-Ella. Present day a bunch of teens are murdered at an ice cream shop also leaving one Survivor-Jessie. The one survivor is a young girl in foster care you find out in the novel that she is actually the child of one of the original teens that was murdered. She will only speak with a therapist who was the original sole survivor of the blockbuster murder. Chris is the FBI agent assigned to the ice cream murderers he is the brother of the original accused of murder of the blockbuster murders. Lots to unpack here- subplot of Chris dad being abusive and murdering his wife. All of the fathers getting together to murder the brother, the one accused of the blockbuster killings.

The teacher Mr. Steadmen was the killer of both teens, and also Jessie’s dad. Ella and Chris fall in love.
