I find the degree of overthinking present in this book quite relatable. And similarly, I struggle to conclude whether or not any of it possesses any actual insight. I think it must, or else I wouldn’t have liked it as much as I did.

Was the title meant to be ironic? There were some amusing bits, but on the whole the story and characters are forgettable and the writing is mundane. It was compared to Sally Rooney’s Normal People which I also didn’t like, so shame on me.

reading this was not an exciting time.
just when i thought nobody could take belly conklin’s crown as most insufferable main character, this girl comes along.
writing was super weird too because what was that unrelated thing about a gap year in the blurb??
also why would you write a romance book and then try to sell it as a irish vs english ideology and upbringing please just choose one. actually i would rather have read two separate books than this.
characters were also super flat, and the only one with any emotional depth was removed for literally no reason halfway through never to return?
didn’t appreciate the random ambiguous threesome ending. honestly when i saw part three: edith AND julian i nearly threw this muppet of a book in the sea, but i didn’t think the fish deserved that.
