The premise of this book has a lot of potential! The enemies to lovers and slow burn tension was really good the first 40% of the book.
Unfortunately I didn’t jive with the plot or character development. Selene was supposed to want to explore the world and instead seemed scandalized by everything. She didn’t even really resist Lust. Her powers weren’t really fleshed out. What was the point of being able to smother emotions?
The last half of the book felt rushed and didn’t offer much of a conclusion. Lust just changed and no one was concerned? It didn’t seem like Selene and Lust did much except explore each others bodies. I would have liked to see some more character development between them. For the whole book to be based on trust in the end there really was none. I would have liked to see Selene and Lust solve the issue together rather than Selene running away.
Overall the book was fun and the main plot of romance was good. The action plot and character development could have been fleshed out better.

**3.5.
I waited a long time to read to this because I thought it would not be to my taste. However, I was pleasantly surprised and really liked it. Except...
It gets a 0.5 deduction because of the terrible fashion in Lust's kingdom, every time a dress was described i cringed and got the ick. And the ending... Like, wth. Poor Affection. That sacrifice completely ruined the happy ending for me. The author could have done anything but that. I almost would have preferred if she had died.

A more accurate rating for me on this is between 3.5 and 3.75 and that's strictly due to repetition. I went ahead and pushed this to a 4 for star ratings because I genuinely liked the story and the character development. But being that every time I stopped and started reading it, it was like watching the recap on the next episode of a TV show without intending to.
Aside from that though, I loved the story. Lust is now added to the exceedingly long list of book boyfriends. A male character who is attentive, listens (albeit a little slowly sometimes), and actually does something to make things right? Yep. Love him. Burn the world down to save her? Absolutely. Bring it on.
I also loved the supporting characters. Sweet Affection being my favorite of all. However, Greed had me cackling and I'm interested to see where his book takes him. I'm also glad Lara didn't totally fall to all the same trappings as a side character of her type typically does.

I tried to go through this book without being too harsh with comments. It’s not necessarily bad, it’s kind of a cute idea, but it is confusing in places.
I don’t think it has the motives very well thought out. I have the feeling that it says at one point something, then all of a sudden they say somehow the opposite, but then again the first thing. It’s confusing to pinpoint a precise motive of the heroine, for example. I am not sure what to make of her.
I believe some behaviors of the MMC make no sense for his character (ex: screams in a pillow, rushes to clean his room before FMC arrives - weird for his character, he is a king…)
And to add more to the confusion - it’s the first time I am reading a book written in third person and I notice the jump from one character’s mind to another’s. So here we are in FMC’s mind, and all of a sudden it jumps in MMC’s mind, and it takes me a line or two to realize that, and I have to re-read sometimes. So that is a lot to work on.
I liked the idea. The execution though..
Beware: it is very dragged on. It didn’t need to be this long. The inner thoughts are so long and repeated.
