Natalie Haynes' conversational tone with the reader makes for a humourous read! Her unique lens on Greek myths, highlighting the more invisible characters, means we learn a lot from this book. However, I found I kept falling asleep reading this; got distracted or closed my eyes. This just simply wasn't as engaging for me as her other non-fiction or novels!

I enjoy Natalie’s books and this was no different.  I was a fan of how she looked at ancient texts and pop culture.

If you enjoy learning more about Greek goddesses, I recommend this one.

While I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology and was excited by the premise of Divine Might, I ultimately found it disappointing. I was hoping for a deep dive into how male writers may have shaped our perceptions of the goddesses over time, but the book didn’t quite deliver on that front. Instead, the modern-day examples felt dated and, at times, condescending, which made it harder to engage with the arguments being made. The humor also didn’t land for me, and overall, I didn’t come away feeling like I had learned anything new.

Additionally, the constant switching between Greek and Roman names for the goddesses was irritating and took away from the flow of the book. While others might enjoy the tone and approach, it just wasn’t what I was looking for.
