Do you ever wonder what motivates people? What causes a person to act the way they do? The things in their lives that have led them to being to person they are? There is always a story and sometimes it isn’t a pretty one. Deliverance is that story for Bridgette and Maggie.
I adore Maggie! Her dive first, learn how to swim later attitude is magnetic. She is so confident in herself and what she want and doesn’t take crap from anyone. I always wondered what the story between her and Bridgette was. How could she possibly fall for someone like Bridge was beyond me but I was surprised.
Bridgette is a mean girl, there is no doubt about that, she even admits it herself many times, but she also has had to become that person to protect herself from the world. There is so much more to her than I ever expected. I actually came to really like by the end of the book.
The themes of this book were HEAVY. I highly suggest reading your trigger warnings before jumping in. I definitely cried a few times. I thought there had to Brethren were bad to begin with but it get so much deeper and more depraved than I thought was possible. My heart broke so many times. You think it’s at the worst it can get when Katelyn throws us a “hold my beer” moment and BAM! You’re crying again.
Though somewhat taboo, the spice level was absolutely on fire!! Katelyn is the queen of writing smutty scenes and writing them often! I might have felt I needed a cold shower more than once!
I absolutely loved Gallows Hill and I am glad we were graced with Maggie and Bridgette’s story. I really hope Katelyn writes more of this world for us.

This story had me feeling all the feels. I was sad, angry so much of the time. These girls went through so much I’m so glad they got a happy ending.

This is one of those if you don't think books are political... This book is going to explore themes of religious trauma and stereotypes / small, minded views surrounding LGBQTIA+ communities. I loved the tough themes and how well they were tackled and how it made me feel seen, healed, and accepted in the end. The spice is top freaking tier, and I just know it in my heart that Katelyn must receive some of the best h3ad a human can offer because those scenes... top freaking tier. I haven't read the other books in the secret society trilogy that came before, but this book made me obsessed with that why choose dynamic, and I can't wait to dive in. I love secret society and dark academia vibes... plus a dark sapphic and make that a step sibling? All the tropes were fire! Please write more Sapphic romances Katelyn!
