I picked this up at the library based on the title and thinking it would be about polyagmy. I was wrong but the topic of army wives appealed to me.

While serving in the military (or being married to someone who enlisted) is a foreign concept....I appreciate those who do serve. Living in San Francisco in the early 1980s, I was friends with army and navy wives through work. This book gave me a glimpse into their home lives

This was a fascinating memoir written by the liberal wife of a military man. It was deeply personal and I appreciated her POV and honesty. It was interesting to see how her perspective changed over the years. So much of what she went through was my worst nightmare. I cannot imagine the anxiety and also the rage of having to go through all that basically alone. She seemed happy in the end but I wonder how it really felt to compromise so much. And I imagine after the book was published she was given a cold shoulder by military people.

I don't know how I came across this book. I think I saw the cover and thought it was a thriller. I'm so glad I judged it by its cover. I could relate to the author, even though our lives are very different. It was interesting reading about the wars that started after 9/11 from the perspective of a soldier's wife, but I feel we also got her husband's (the soldier) perspective too. Great read. Informative.

Writing style wasn't for me. Some parts had me interested, some parts had me skipping paragraphs.
