This resembled my own life from 2004-2007. It pushed at wounds that I didn’t know I still carried. Well written and propulsive. I really enjoyed my time with Simone.

How did this book get published? It must have been a friend because this was terrible. DNF at 73%...the author is very unlikable and also thinks she's better then basically everyone whose married to someone serving their country and who lives in the South. I get it's a memoir and everyone's entitled to their feelings but maybe don't publish them in a book. I hope none of the "wives" read this book because I'd never speak to her again.
This book should have been called The Wife, An Army Wife Complains and Whines About Her Husband's Time In Service.
What a freaking joke. I hope Army wives everywhere are embarrassed by this mess. The author spends the first half of the book complaining about her husband's deployment and time at Ranger School. Seriously, get a life instead of dwelling on what he's doing. I get it that time apart is challenging. That is the life of a military family. She weaves her anti-American rhetoric throughout the story (she's a raging liberal btw) to the point that when her husband puts up an American flag in front of their house, she feels "uncomfortable." When her husband wants to buy a hand gun, she freaks out about having it in the house because she's afraid of it. Oh, and she complains about being alone, but she judges every other wife and soldier she meets. This was frustrating to read, not what I was expecting at all.

Incredible and vulnerable. She truly laid it out bare in her description of a military spouses lifestyle.
